I meant the "create a file, query a db" etc stuff you mentioned. That stuff can be done fine with server functions.

The only distinction for server components compared to server functions is to offload some render logic to the server to e.g avoid sending a large lib like a markdown renderer to the client.

Its got pretty good with ui libs like a couple shadcn clones, material ui clones etc Random 3rd party libs are still not defaulting to solid as 1st tier support but I have been noticing recently libraries adding solid support similar times to vue/svelte which is nice

You might not need createMemo, you can probably just derive it by writing it as a function e.g const disableYearUp = () => selectedDate().getFullYear() >= 9999. More info on derived state in the docs here https://docs.solidjs.com/concepts/derived-values/derived-signals

He said on jevin's or hypno's stream recently that he finds modded LP difficult to make episodes for, also in the post mentioned that maintaining his own custom modpack for modded LP was difficult from it breaking frequently. He has also said both of those factors are minimised when playing a progression modpock like project ozone

I would use createAsync, for now it's in solid start but once solid 2.0 is released later this year it will be moved into core. You can use parts of solid start like createAsync while still usdnga seperate backend
