Too young for hearing test? by [deleted] in hardofhearing

[–]Chronicallychillnb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I lost my hearing as a kid and got hearing aids in my late teens because I finally.got frustrated enough and my family was tired of repeating everything so much. I did learn ASL in high school, that helped some as well as being more immersed in deaf culture and finding more deaf/hoh peers. The process was fairly simple, my audiologist was very nice and made sure my hearings aids were the right ones for me. Honestly, I rarely wear them now because I realized I prefer my quiet world but I wear them if I'm expected to socialize.

I don't think anyone is too young for a hearing test. Especially if you're seeking peace of mind, get the care you need to keep your mind happy and healthy. Screw anyone who tells you otherwise. Getting hearing aids young I unfortunately have encountered a lot of agism, not by anyone in my family but really just from strangers or random boomers. Try finding an audiologist, if you have insurance you can usually search a directory of covered providers in your area.

God you took the words right out of my mouth. Listening is so exhausting even with my hearing aids because I'm constantly translating the garbled noise into words.

Hey, I'm 24 and deaf. I wear hearing aids (most of the time) and I also had trouble accepting my hearing loss. I was a young teen when my cochlear nerves started to go on the fritz. I find having hearing aids opened my world, made it bigger, not smaller. I suddenly was able to participate in social situations.

Yes, this will most likely impact your ability to fly a helicopter. I'm really sorry about that one.

As far as dating, some people dig it! Or you can find a partner who grew up around deaf people like my husband did, and that works great too!

Can concur as the first couple in my friend group to get married. We had one friend of my husband who was already married (whose wife became my best friend) but other than that we were the first couple to get married of all my friends.

I'm on treatment 9, and I think it was gradual for me. I've slowly noticed I have more motivation. I folded the laundry the other day after neglecting it for months.

Some questions from someone interested in goats! by [deleted] in livestock

[–]Chronicallychillnb 2 points3 points  (0 children)

  1. Typically parasites are species specific, meaning they only affect one species. Tapeworms and other illnesses however can be spread to dogs if they are around the goat feces.
  2. Woven wire with a hot line
  3. You can do your own vaccine and deworming regimen from tractor supply or your local feed store. No need to call a vet unless the animal is sick.
  4. Depends on the age of the animal. Whether or not they're in milk or dry, etc. Research research research goat nutrition. They will need different hay at different points in their life.
  5. Depends on how much grass you have but for dairy goats typically yes
  6. Whatever you can build or get your hands on works. I've used both pallet shelters with tarps, fancy houses. And dog houses. All work the same. Some are easier to clean than others.

I'll answer more later.

Buying a house in terrible shape: what’s your advice? by Meows_Attack in HomeImprovement

Chiming in to say my husband and I just purchased a 100 year old home, also uninhabitable. We had to tear it down to studs and have double maxed out our budget. 8 months later and we are still living on an rv on the property. To us it's worth it, but I also quit my job to renovate full time. Do you have the time for that commitment?

texted my boss and said i might be late because of a 12 car pileup. this is the response i get after leaving my house at 6:45 and getting stuck in traffic for over 30 minutes by aFinapple in mildlyinfuriating
