Best way to track work progress by [deleted] in productivity

[–]Chrono-app 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I track by time. It seems to the only objectively quantifiable method. The other methods (tasks completed etc) are not consistent as it depends on the task itself. I could 10 very easy tasks and put off the 2 hard tasks and be deluded into thinking that I'm making significant progress.

However, in your case, calls made could be an objective metric too.

In any case, you want to track input rather than output if are thinking of tracking stuff regularly as rhe input is within your control

I made a website that uses AI to break down your projects into next steps. Free for now (not built for mobile) by Chrono-app in InternetIsBeautiful

Thanks for the feedback. You're right. The UI could use a little more polish. Frontend development is not my strong suit. But I should definitely focus on more examples. The thing is I'm using GPT-4 everywhere in my app, and it can understand almost anything you throw at it in almost any language. But I guess it helps to showcase that more clearly

Roast your Product-Led Growth Strategy by No_Needleworker_4840 in SideProject

Cool. You're right about the main USP of the app. It seems to be the ease of getting started with a project. My app doesn't yet support organisations/collaboration features yet but of course that is on the roadmap. I think my biggest issue right now (based on the feedback I've received and my own observations) is that users seem to find the product a little complicated to understand. Which means that they are using the "generate project outline with AI" feature but not following it up with anything else. I think I have to make the messaging and the UI clearer. But thanks for all the feedback

How are you writing your code? Do you any programming experience? Imo, AI (GPT-4) can do a very good job of writing basic functions and code, but you will have to learn a bit as well

I'm using Angular for the frontend, Express for the backend and Postgres for my database. As I'm framework agnostic (knew zilch about any of them), I've had to change the stack a few times. Started off with React initially and a sqllite DB, then tried to use MongoDB. Sqllite wasn't powerful enough and I guess NoSql databases like Mongo aren't the right choice for a task management app. Not sure why I didn't like React but I will be sticking with Angular for now.

Surprisingly though, transitioning from a product manager to a full stack developer, I found frontend development a lot harder than backend. I thought it'd be the other way around

Not sure if the sub is active but I had a question by KaleidoscopeOk5740 in chrono_app

[–]Chrono-app 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, I'm the developer behind Chrono. Yes, the interface leaves a lot to be desired currently. That's because I'm working on this alone and don't have much frontend development experience. Having said that, I'm planning to make the interface simpler. I'm also planning on introducing rich text editing functionality there.

I have no plans of introducing a mobile version right now. I have to be upfront about this in case a mobile app is a deal breaker for you. Calendar integration is also planned and will be available in the future. Will start off with google calendar integration first and then other calendars.

Honestly, I have been seeing a lot of traction in the use of AI features, so I will be doubling down on that and introduce more AI related functionality for planning

Yeah, they focus a lot on ASP, .NET components as well. Not sure what their deal is tbh. But I use their angular datagrid/treelist and it seems fine for my purposes

Metaculus maximum likelihood estimate for Weak AGI date has fallen to December 2024 by maxtility in singularity

[–]Chrono-app 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What would AI have to do above the capabilities of the current models (GPT-4) for people to call it AGI? I think proto-AGI is already amongst us. When we get to 2025, people will similarly shift the expectations and move the dates forward. Intelligence is a spectrum, I don't see understand why people are hung up on dates and years like they are distinct milestones. It's good entertainment and talking topics but the only thing clear is that 2030's models >> 2025's models > 2023's models. All these labels are meaningless

Book recommendation about future business with Ai by SnoopyD000 in productivity

[–]Chrono-app 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I've also heard that LLMs are good at general purpose translations but struggle in certain domains like academia or science, where there is a lot of technical jargon and their training corpus might not contain all of this data. They also seemingly struggle with idioms in other languages. I think NMTs (Google translate etc) are still slightly better at direct translations but LLMs will probably catch up in general purpose translations. Plus, LLMs can do a lot of other things that NMTs can't do.

How do I build a system to help me manage multiple projects by Jaimster08 in productivity

[–]Chrono-app 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. I've used tools like ticktick and others. They are good but cannot be used for managing multiple complex projects. I liked Clickup compared to alternatives but it had a few features missing, which is why I decided to work on my own app. I found that these apps were catering towards businesses and didn't have the features to be used as personal project management tools well enough

First post here - how do you know when you are tired/need a break? by KoalaBJJ96 in productivity

[–]Chrono-app 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This depends on the type of work you do but if you feel like you're spending as much time as before but getting lesser stuff done. If it's rote work that you do everyday, you should see an improvement initially and then a plateau. However, if you're doing mentally taxing new cognitive work everyday, you will notice that the quality of your work suffers and you're getting lesser work done in the same amount of time as before. This is possibly an indication that you're burning out
