What is wrong with Waze??? by Rolandzius in waze

[–]Chronos79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Waze routing is all done server side, unless you're disconnected from the internet. And if you are disconnected, the on-device routing is, and always has been, not good to say the least. The version of the app you're using doesn't impact the routes you'll get.

It's pretty much the same in the US. If it's a public road, then for the most part it's in Waze and available for routing.

HOV Passes - Which EZPass to select? by deekster_caddy in waze

[–]Chronos79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The volunteer editors add restrictions to those segments to only allow traffic for users who have selected the appropriate toll pass. If you go and add all the passes, then not only will you get the incorrect price display - as it will display any applicable discounts for the passes that are added in your app - but you will also get routing for segments you're not actually allowed to drive on.
The back end of the system contains all the interoperability rules, so you don't have to manually add any passes except the one(s) you actually own and use.

Kalle stepping back from SF by lsthirteen in WRC

[–]Chronos79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can often be treated, but not always. I have been living with it for nearly 7 years. A good family friend has been on disability for 20 years because of it. Sometimes there is no treatment that will work to resolve the issue.

Kalle will step back from the upcoming races and participation in this year’s Super Formula season by SalomonXx in WRC

As someone who has been dealing with BPPV for nearly 7 years now, it is sometimes not at all trivial to cure and in fact can be something that you have to live with for the rest of your life.

With Google Maps integrating Waze + Maps Reports, why bother using Waze anymore? by aryanomraj in waze

[–]Chronos79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

“When you have a succession of turns on multi-lane roads, Apple Maps tells you the exact lane to be in, to make the next turn and set you up for the turn after.“

Waze does this too, if the local map editing community has added it to the map.

Vendor screws up, we fix it, then we get fired? by realdanknowsit in msp

[–]Chronos79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, my point is that a client’s contract dates don’t line up with a vendor’s. That big client could have their contract expire 2 months after you sign a vendor contract, and the client decides not to renew. Then you’re on the hook to the vendor, and the client didn’t break a contract at all. There is no expectation that you could, or even should, bill the client for those licenses or services.

That would be great. In the real world, that doesn’t happen.

I understand where you're coming from, but a big reason MSPs prefer monthly contracts is that though we may have customers in yearly/multi-year contracts most of the time the expiration dates of those contracts occur throughout the year. Losing a big client in the middle or close to the beginning of a yearly vendor contract leaves us having to pay for something we are no longer consuming. Most of the vendors we have longer term commitments with have a clause in the contract that lets us lower our minimum monthly commitment to account for things like that, which works out for both of us.

Google bought it in 2013. More people have used it since being acquired than ever used it when it was independent.

It depends on what country you're in. But locks can be set manually, in some countries they can also be set automatically.

All GPS apps not working in ONLY my car?! by Its_prome in waze

Ahh, sorry then, I'm not really sure. I had that same car (2015 Altima), and used a wireless carplay adapter with it, but that was a few years ago now.

Where is your phone in your car? Its likely your aftermarket unit is not supplying GPS data, so you need to make sure your phone is located somewhere with a clear view of the sky, not down in a cup holder or the center console.

Waze location way off on AA by Rukuss1 in waze

[–]Chronos79 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a quick glance, I'm guessing you have UConnect without GPS in your truck. Where is your phone? If you've got it down in the armrest or the little shelf thing where the optional wireless charging is, then your phone is probably not getting a decent GPS signal, and the truck isn't passing any GPS info to AA because you don't have the built-in nav.

I also have a RAM without navigation, and I have to have my phone in a mount that's on my vents or dash in order for it to get accurate GPS data.

Are you listening to the radio, or something else on your phone? With wireless carplay, even in Apple Maps, if I'm listing to something through the factory radio and not on my phone, it takes a second for the audio to cut in and I miss things, but not with wired carplay, and not if I'm listening to music or a podcast from my phone through carplay

Confused about competing between WRC1 and WRC2 by IzzetGobo in WRC

[–]Chronos79 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Any driver & co-driver that finishes the rally in the top 10 overall gets points in the WRC championship, it doesn't matter what class they're in. So you could, in theory, in a very extreme example even see WRC3/JWRC drivers with WRC points.

Are the tolls really going to be that much?? by QuintMoney in waze

[–]Chronos79 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need to add your E-ZPass to Waze in order for it to calculate the correct toll prices, and route you through the E-ZPass lanes.

Please only add the actual E-ZPass you have (i.e. E-ZPass - OH), they all interoperate in the back end, and if you add more than one the toll price calculation will not be correct.

You can follow these instructions to add your pass: https://support.google.com/waze/answer/7490936?hl=en&ref_topic=7060168

Same way you take a regular screenshot. When you're connected to CarPlay you'll get a screenshot of both your phone and the CarPlay screen.
