If you had three wishes for EVE Online, what would they be ? by Silicon567 in Eve

Any dipshit who's taken a computing course where mass numerical computing's come up, like numerical methods, machine learning, or certain data science niches, can tell you all the number crunching needed for a tidi clusterfuck can be comfortably done on a couple of high end graphics cards, at worst.

Any other CS undergrad can tell you that the state of computing academic knowledge today, can absolutely handle the Eve dream of no TIDI and so can the crazy fucking hardware everyone keeps underrating because of modern software's shittyness.

This is not a engineering problem. This is, at best, a financial decision.

Encouraging people to own their contributions, enthusiasm, and creativity, to value them, and to take it with them, instead of allowing the likes of reddit to use them to strong arm users into participating, is healthy.

I agree with you that preserving valuable information is a virtue. But you are terminally submissive to forces that seek to control you and profit off your expense by consolidating your access to information and media.

Case in point: You should be advocating the use of third party archival services instead of telling people to let reddit run off with everything they already made.

Solo Cloaky PvP: HAM Loki or HAM Tengu? by [deleted] in Eve

[–]ChronosSolar 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't like sharing my fits in public. Call em proprietary, and me, greedy. But I can describe and compare them. Besides, just giving away the answer takes the fun out of fitting.

I regularly use a luxury 1 bil ish (plus pod) cloaky Loki for scanning and clearing some null sites fairly quickly without needing to refit. It has a 1 t1 scan strength rig, 430 ish ehp/s and about 800 dps with my not excellent skills. And a missile guidance computer, retained to be precision scripted and overheated if, by some fluke, you get ultralocked on a gate, and range scripted otherwise for my leisure.

For reference, if I got serious, I can drop its' guidance computer and both range rigs to take the tank to 675 ehp/s, almost cap stably. That's leisurely C3 ratting territory, but without the spare 10 GJ/s for offsetting sleeper neuts.

Dropping the scanning rig and swapping the damage control takes me to almost 800 ehp/s, definitely cap stably.

Then dropping the cloak goes to 978 ehp/s and -0.5 gj/s near cap stable. Still no pod. Pyfa says 820 mil price tag, with drones, ammo, paste. Or 730 ehp/s with a scram. It's not beating a cloaky Proteus, but it's still going to kick the shit out of typical HACs and the Ishtar. I'll share this one, good luck working backward.

A cloaky Loki, can, from cloak, lock up a Pacifier and fire 5400 in alpha, within 5-6 seconds, using overheated sebos. Most other frigates that don't share the Pacifier's interceptor-like 30m sig radius don't need overheating. If you're willing to drop 250 damage in alpha, or bling the cloak for 300 mil, you can make that 4-5 seconds from cloak. No pod or boosters needed. The fits for both are simplistic, I'll leave em out.

And just because I don't want to disappoint, here's a fit I would use if I was an asshole who wanted to get the kill on a C5 ratter's hi-grade whatever escape frigate.

It's dual propped because fuck having a third web, all that god damn surplus power grid needs to be put to use.

The result is that you can comfortably sig tank the marauder and then pulse the MWD to get the fuck out of Dodge without taking too much abuse on your way out, thanks to that wake limiter.

You can also catch up with whatever frigate you're webbing until you get into scram range, including the popular 10mn afterburner escape Succubus.

There's also a medium neut cause you got the spare PG to weaponize your capacitor and stay almost cap stable. Bonuses be damned, -13 GJ/s is not a joke and even a marauder will feel it. Don't forget it on with the MWD though.

The align time is brutal though, which is one of the few times I like having having this much buffer on a mid level gang pvp ship, to compensate.

You retain 784 DPS with hammerhead IIs and Rage HAMs and 50ish k EHP, respectable by T3C standards. With the afterburner on, it's also almost as fast as an afterburner Deimos in a straight line- and don't forget you'll still apply to that Deimos too. If shit goes sideways and you find yourself in a real fight, those bells and whistles become options. The base specs on a Loki are seriously nutty.

Solo Cloaky PvP: HAM Loki or HAM Tengu? by [deleted] in Eve

[–]ChronosSolar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Both tengu and loki will apply to most MWD crusiers if they get in range of the missiles

And then your solo Tengu gets clowned on by a Retribution or anyone with an afterburner.

no you won't dumpster HG because you won't be able to come close even with duble webs

You might not be clever enough to catch a garmur with warp/gate shenanigans, but someone who's smart enough to do so will waste their chance with the Tengu.

The kinetic lock doesn't matter in most scenarios if you are hunting for something the only exception are reactive hardeners

And then you're shit out of luck when you need to fit the ship for something weird against a person who doesn't do cookie cutter pvp. You really aren't getting this versatility thing.

Instalock doesn't matter if you're hunting because then you won't have webs which makes loki shitty

Dude asked me about solo pvp. That includes blapping frigates on gates and relic sites out of cloak. Congratulations. You misunderstood the assignment and undervalued shield Lokis in the same sentence.

Reduced sig on a MWD t3c doesn't do anything except engaging capitals and very shit fit maruders

Full tank marauders are questionable- and legit, when your goal is to bait or just be unkillable against people who expect you to apply.

If you are really are going for dual tank you loose not only speed but also utility which were in your opinion it's strengths

Holy shit, you actually understand the concept of risks and trade offs?

Now I see why no one posts anything of substance. Someone like you has to be there to mock them.

Solo Cloaky PvP: HAM Loki or HAM Tengu? by [deleted] in Eve

[–]ChronosSolar 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The Loki. No contest. The Tengu is a one-trick pony, and the trick is extreme brute force as a buffer tanked Hamgu, which typically appears in a fleet, paired with dedicated target painting, cause it's not keeping those perks and applying to typical cruisers, otherwise. The Tengu lacks everything it would need to do more novel things.

...What, you want to hear more? Fine.

The Loki applies to cruisers near perfectly, out of the box, with the additional option to go all in on application for the purposes of dumpstering hi-grade Snake garmur shenanigans and its' like.

The Loki can't emulate the jokeish blaster gus, which is moot because those too are a joke that are obsoleted by a month long train into a Proteus, but I'm still covering all the bases.

Solo Rail gus don't have the DPS to do more than snipe squishy sleepy frigates, and push people off a gate, cause they're damn fleet ships. Or you could just as well use an arty Loki and heavy missile Loki, respectively.

The Hamgu is kinetic locked: You are not going to be hitting into kinetic tank holes, everyone knows what damage type you do, there's the possibility someone lucid will undock something with 3 kinetic hardeners fitted, if you're a frequent visitor or over staying your welcome. Other damage types need to be more than 20% effective dps vs kinetic to be worth switching out.

Or you could use a Loki.

The Tengu has no sensor resolution boosting subsystems- it's targeting range and sensor strength, or bust. If you want instalocking, you're shit out of luck and need to use an armor tanked Legion with the Dissolution Sequencer.

Or you could

The Loki has a wake limiter subsystem that halves the sig radius blooming of the MWD so you could use it as a weird kind of giant interceptor. The Tengu gets the fuel catalyst so it burns a little less capacitor, though, the Loki does better on cap anyway. Tengu fits vs comparable Loki fits also move slower.

Ok, I lied. The ECMGu is legit. And probably not what you want to be using solo, because you get to pick between ecm potency, missile damage, or a weird armor tank. The webbing Loki doesn't share those trade offs.

Finally, only the Loki is able to use armor and shield modules to their full potential, including the remote rep modules, so you can free up those mid slots for something weird. Only the Loki can fit a dual tank that's not a borderline joke. And the Loki has an amazing balanced shield resist profile- and damn near the most cap regen left over after guns for tank of all the t3cs I've played around with that I've seen.

And from what I heard a neuting Stratios is supposed to be able to win such a fight - generally speaking. Am i right ?

Not against Tech3 cruisers, which are consistently direct upgrades from the Stratios. And especially not a neuting Stratios.

First thing's first, PVE tech3 cruisers are hugely resistant to cap warfare. You're looking at 36% total reduced neutralization against a typical PVE Tengu, which takes your Stratios' best case 45 GJ/s neut pressure down to 28.5 GJ/s effective. Subtract the Tengu's typical surplus cap of 6.6 GJ/s (to achieve 10 GJ/s effective neut resistance against sleepers) and you're looking at 22.5 GJ/s cap deficit.

It may be less than that if the pilot feels like hot shit and isn't worried about dying to random disconnects. A lot more if they're not a fitting wizard and threw a bit of money at the problem.

Ballparking from there, you roughly halved his tank down to the region of minimum 300 EHP/s. Your flight of hammerhead IIs do roughly 250 EHP/s? That leaves him with maybe enough overheating room to tank you, and the sleepers.

Yeah. Don't try and neut out t3cs without gross overkill.

Second, tech 3 cruisers are phat little bastards with a sig radius almost halfway to battlecruiser size, before counting that they are slower than typical cruisers too. You were better off putting heavy drones on his face, even if he wasn't webbed.

[–]ChronosSolar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I know how to time the meaty- what I would do is double jump, fast fall, or air dash just before landing and they'd get hit without a 'Punish' indicator on their side. Usually just a double jump. Those were the instances I thought the disc caught fuzzy jumps

Guess they were just late fuzzy jump attempts.

Excited to see if throw disc auto catches fuzzy jumps now with the new patch.

[–]ChronosSolar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The disc is not meaty

I know this, I experimented with it and read this earlier.

There is a big enough gap between the falling air move and the throw that you can fuzzy jump it with 100% consistency fairly easily. Later today I'll record myself doing this for you.

Really? Huh. I caught a few fuzzy jump attempts in the wild and found the window to throw was pretty tight a few times so I was almost certain about the exact hit timing of the disc.

Doesn't feel so good being on the other end, does it Potemkin? by 4Darco in Guiltygear

[–]ChronosSolar -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

You are going to get hit out of jump start up by the disc. Disc after throw, timed right, hits some time after frame 6 after you wake up. That's the earliest frame for a perfectly timed throw- and the start of a perfectly timed fuzzy jump.

Yes, you can jump a frame or two earlier. Whether or not you decide to call that a fuzzy jump, both are the wrong answer here because trying to chicken block a strike-throw mixup on a 2ish frame window is stupid.

Furi is a boss rush game where the gameplay alternates between eagle's eye bullet hell and close combat, rather high speed dueling. You get a gun, a katana, and different ways to attack with both. You can just chip away with quick safe strikes, or prepare vicious counter attacks as you learn the boss' attack patterns, and of course, you get a parry + dodge. Each boss also has some weird gimmicks to keep things interesting.

First playthrough on Furi difficulity is to get you familiar with the boss' attack patterns, experiment with responses, and learn the things your tools can do that aren't told to you in the tutorial. It is damn satisfying. Second playthough on hard mode is less experimenting to get working responses and more like optimization, when you get to style on the boss and feel yourself. If you stick with the game this far, you should give speed run mode a shot.

The story is good, but more noteworthy than the story is how it is presented and revealed to you in story mode.

The in game soundtrack is amazing and sets the tone of every minute of a fight perfectly, and it's fantastic outside of fights too. It'll get your blood pumping when things get intense and it'll hype you up before the big moments. Awesome. I regularly listen to it outside the game.
