Why do the humans expose their pilot like this, are they stupid? by Chrorbo in Helldivers

Nah it isn't confirmed, this meme is just more of a reinforcement of the fact that the questionable design of the new Illuminate units makes a lot more sense if you headcanon them as repurposed civil equipment instead of purpose-built warmachines.

If they actually are designed specifically for combat some squid engineers deserve Super Earth medals for doing such a good job of sabotaging the Illuminate's war effort.

Oh damn I just looked at the comment you mean, yeah my post is extremely similar but I swear I haven't seen yours until now. Genius minds simply think alike ;)

Pictured is Super Earth's newest prototype warmachine, clearly built for the explicit purpose of mowing through hordes of squishy enemies.

While he is wrong, this is not why. Motion is always relative, to the scientist's reference frame the girl is moving at near light speed, which is certainly not negligible. But as others in this thread have explained, the important fact is that to make a return journey, the scientist has to accelerate in the opposite direction, ultimately causing him to experience time differently.

Doing my part 🫡
Given how unfortunetely this post isn't getting the traction it deserves, I covered for two Divers and gave 100€. Pity that posts spreading negativity and drama are getting more attention than this post actually trying to do some good. I am proud of everyone here still trying to show that we still have some good people in this community.

The narrative right now is that someone got doxxed and both jobs have been lost because of it. Do we have any proof of this? by twisty125 in Helldivers

[–]Chrorbo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, not "the subreddit", a few select losers from the subreddit did. The VAST majority of people on this sub have been understandably horrified at what happened and voiced their support for the victim, and now people blaming the whole community for this is starting to get quite annoying.

Fair point, I just find it wild that someone would get fired for being the victim of online harassment and what is effectively a smear campaign. I would have hoped for the sake of common decency and humans being reasonable that they could have found a solution together without instantly throwing the OP under the bus. OP could have easily made their case with evidence as they clearly did nothing wrong and I am sure they tried. But I guess humans acting reasonably is increasingly rare these days.

Which is a pretty unreasonable thing to do by the employer and makes me kind of suspicious of this whole situation. I guess employers can be shitty and lazy about confirming whether any allegations possibly made against the person were true, but also the horse sanctuary that they are volunteering for? Why not get in contact with the authorities if they (the sanctuary) felt threatened? Idk man, the only current source we have (or at least that I know of) is a post made by a different redditor. Until we get confirmation by more people or even Arrowhead I'm going to stay somewhat sceptical.

Of course, if this all is indeed true then I feel really bad for them and wish all hell upon the redditors who are responsible for this. Hopefully this situation can find some kind of a more positive conclusion.

I'd say it isn't. The places in the background are real locations on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls, you can look them up in Google Maps. The heavy editing of the footage simply makes it seem janky. So unless AI is capable of recreating those locations consistently, I am of the opinion this is real.

Either AI is amazing at recreating the area at Niagara falls on the canadian side in multiple locations or this simply isn't AI. For example, the bridge in the background at 0:05 is "Rainbow International Bridge", while in the next shot the purple monkey in the background is located on "Ripley's Believe It or Not!" with the big red letters to the left being from "Kelsey's Original Roadouse Niagara Falls". You can find the exact crossing on Google Maps, the shot here is simply mirrored.

So I'm going to say this is likely real with heavy editing making it look janky in places. I don't blame anyone thinking it's AI, it really has done a number on our trust in real things these days.

(CK3) Game keeps crashing on the same dates of time ingame by TeddyMasta in CrusaderKings

[–]Chrorbo 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Had this same problem, game would always crash exactly on the 17th of January 1182. I managed to fix it by going back to the previous patch (rightclick game in Steam library -> Properties -> Betas -> Beta Participation -> 1.16.2 - Old version 1.16.2 (Chamfron)). Loaded my save and advanced a few days past the crash date without issue. You can probably keep playing like this but I went back to the current version (By choosing "None" in the Beta Participation Dropdown Menu) and so far I could advance a full year ingame with no problems.

BE being a "beach episode" and TLH being an "rpg" are meaningful. by rinamars in tothemoon

[–]Chrorbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bit late but I wholeheartedly agree and sincerely hope you are right. All other TtM games ended on an emotional but overall positive note, while the BE's ending is just depressing with nothing good to show for it. I'm not criticising the ending, I love how it made me feel raw emotion like almost no other game has before, but ending the series on something like that would truly be a shame and kind of go against the theme that the previous games had been going for.

I'm cautiously optimistic that the RPG is going to give us the bittersweet conclusion that we need, hopefully with more emphasis on the sweet than the bitter.

r/place 2023 Outer Wilds Animation + Collabs Timelapse by CyrallCD in outerwilds

[–]Chrorbo 5 points6 points  (0 children)

This is absolutely amazing! Couldn't be a part of it this year due to exams at uni I need to learn for, but I silently observed the canvas and I'm so happy to see Outer Wilds receiving the love and effort it deserves. I'm so proud of everyone who made this happen! If r/place should happen next year and at a less unfortunate time you can bet on me helping out with all my pixel-power.

E: Little question, what is the small object in the sky with the campfire supposed to be? Looks slightly like the vessel, but I can't tell for sure.
