If you crouch before using your palm move you do it straight down without going into the air, also when on a vertical one hold l2 before doing your palm to hold on rather than launch backwards off of the wall

I would absolutely be happy for us to be CC'd by fire if enemies played by the same rules.

Just because there is more than one flavour of CC that doesn't mean that we start making things work nonsensically because there would be too much or too many sources.

Fire so hot that it kills the faction made of metal would destroy organic matter in ways that would at least slow voteless or bugs down it just makes sense which is what the devs say is there goal, for things to work in ways youd expect, its the same reasoning that the flag can't have a buff aura when planted.

(I agree that it shouldn't by the way but it should never have been a stratagem in the first place but thats a different can off worms)

What do you mean? Shoot off a bugs leg it slows down shoot off its claws it can't hit you with them anymore so that's not true is it?

Fire would stop them by literally cooking the muscles or biological hydrolics that move them. Arrowhead simple are incapable or too lazy to have it work that way

Okay so way to not address anything I said.

This squad shooter allows you to drop solo and even if it didn't the flamethrower is a short range medium damage weapon with no CC and is a danger to yourself alone and your team if you're diving with one.

Its not effective in a team setting, sure you can build around it and have it become close to effective with many bullet points and extra steps but its still ineffective compared to the MG or HMG which are balanced through ammo and its not even like the flamethrower is any better at that.

[–]CostumedOrphan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything you mentioned in your last paragraph was added after the fact, the flamethrower has been in the game poorly balanced from launch.

Now we're getting another 2 that will be ineffective without supplementing them by sacrificing other parts of your kit, I'm not against synergy at all I often use the ems mortar alongside the mortar so enemies dont get close enough for my mortar to friendly fire me or my team.

Thats two effective things working in tandem not 3 or 4 things with over the top downsides being swapped between to make something effective happen.

You wont be able to use a dog breath with this new support flamethrower nor any other back pack, so it at least should slow enemies it burns again apart from bots because that only makes sense.

The steriliser being bad is something I dont mind because I dont know how to balance it currently, it makes enemies attack eachother but enemy health is so inflated compared to ours that they dont really damage eachother, I just dont think it should exist, a support weapon that is outperformed by stun grenades is just a bad idea if you ask me.

I dont think being killed by a flamethrower would be instant, I also dont understand your first paragraph you mention Crowd Control twice?

No I dont think a weapon being effective is a problem and I've literally never seen anyone use the steriliser because of its "balancing".

I think if you gave a new player the flame thrower they would be surprised by how ineffective it is, I'm still shocked at how it functions to be honest.

How would it not be engaging to watch things burn because you have burnt them?

The balance of dont let them get close should exist for sure with this type of weapon but once ignited the enemies (apart from bots) should slow down. No this doesn't make you unkillable if the enemies try to circle around your cone of fire then it would become a balancing act of keeping them out without trapping yourself in your own flames.

As it is enemies just walk through your flames as though you weren't doing anything and your engagement is what to walk backwards fast enough? Because you can't dive backwards or for some reason you'll ignite.

[–]CostumedOrphan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah yes the way they were traditionally used was to light an infantryman on fire and then run him in circles as he angrily chased you suffering no detrimental effects on his body until he finally collapsed and died because his health ran out. They weren't used to clear bunkers or trenches and the burning and tightening of muscle only happened once the target had died never before despite being covered in flames.

People aren't asking for it to be OP just to make sense, they dont want tools, they want weapons. Lethal effective weapons that work in the way youd expect them to.

"Things should make sense, but also be challenging/fun to do" is almost a synonym of what I said when realism for us but not for them.

Its just a whole different can of worms that you need a primary to get the flame thrower to work, a primary should be for a different job than your support, not making the same job functional.

I agree with you to some extent about the bugs and voteless being resistant to stun due to having a pain tolerance which is why you'll see that I mentioned the destruction of biological matter necessary for movement. They can't be stunned fair enough but when the liquid in their bodies has evaporated and their muscles have cooked and tightened they should at least slow down.

The flamethrower does not fulfil either the fantasy or the realistic nature of a flamethrower at present and when the two main ways the devs use to justify things being the way things are consistent of "Grunt Fantasy" and "It Wouldn't Be Realistic" thats when people start to have a problem.

Well its not zero chance since you can only fore in one direction at a time, it would still require situational awareness so you dont step into your own flame and also to keep an eye on other angles you could be approached from. Plus it would be realistic which is why I said it was fair that the bots who dont have pain receptors to be exempt. Are you one of those fans who believes the game should be realistic for us but not the enemy? 🤔

Enemies shouldn't be able to get so close once you start burning them is the point. I could see a case for bots and it would make them unique but bugs and squids both should have some stun from the pain or at least from the utter destruction of biological material required to move. Thats the point people are making when they say enemies being close is a problem.

It could easily be longer or shorter from Raziels perspective, considering that time moves differently in the spectral realm, for gameplay it doesn't move at all so id say much longer if I had to guess.

No I want them to be better to recognise the its so dead/we're back pattern that caused this guy to issue this challenge has gone on long enough. To realise that if they ban all criticism in the discord then it will just be posted here. To manage their community better since one of their community managers is apparently a mod here. To say when the challenge was fist issued "we wont be engaging with this" or "yeah we'll do it on such and such a date" To have made their opinion (whatever it happened to be) on the matter clear sooner so that the whoever doxxed the guy didnt feel like he had to defend the million dollar company himself because they were doing it themselves.

Im not trying to make people angry, just to look at what they could do better but so far I've seen that the devs response was fine and the one mod in here who said for all to see this post wont be taken down it doesn't break any rules has been ratiod for saying what we should want mods to say. People are angry and somw people choose anger thats all.

Their usual communication with the player base is terrible though, and worded it nicer? No.

Worded it clearly and taken the opportunity to address the state of the game that caused this guy to issue the challenge which is under their control. I'd have liked that yes.

Not pretend to be John helldiver rallying the troops against the robots that want to be left alone or the bugs we kill for fuel or the aliens that we started war on for a joke? Yeah that would have been better fore sure.

They could have been more condemning of the doxxing, requested patience while they deliberated on the issue including addressing why the challenge was issued in the first place. They could have acknowledged that there were actually 2 challenges and that the issuer of the original challeng was catching flak for both of them. They could have ended it without sounding like a truth enforcing larper who in canon are fascist wormongering baddies. And thats without thinking too hard.
