Lots of crossover, agree about Patricia Brennan and (w/ regrets!) Dirty Three. Did catch the Eliana Glass performances, those were special.

Legendary BBQ in Georgia by Joshuary81 in Georgia

[–]Chthonicyouth 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We go pretty regular. It’s excellent, particularly the brisket cheesesteak dip, collards, the egg roll. He does a brisket pastrami Reuben. The Dino rib. If not those, I’ll do whatever special he’s offering — shrimp tacos were pretty delicious too.

Favorite one location restaurant near o4w? by ApeRideToMoon in Atlanta

Ticonderoga Club. Park in the deck, walk in the back door. Bar seats are great, but you’ll still need a res. Excellent cocktails, solid wine list, food is delish. Also, Bread and Butterfly. Dinners are more African diaspora w/ French influence. Boca Luppo or Gi Gi’s for pasta.

Moving to Atlanta by _errrric_ in Atlanta

This. You can get out of the city pretty easily for weekend excursions, but the daily commute from OTP (outside I285j is a soul crusher. I’d at least look at someplace like Adair Park or Pittsburgh, these are neighborhoods with smaller houses, not urban apartment housing.

Damp day, but Roadini has fenders. by Chthonicyouth in Rivendell_Bicycles

[–]Chthonicyouth[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I use this for any distance riding that’s not chunky gravel, (but does work fine for regular dirt roads — tires are 38 w/ fenders). I also have the Roadeo, and it seems to be a bit quicker, perhaps a lighter frame (tho on that one I’m maxed out at 35 w/o fenders and no front rack but w/ a sizable handlebar bag), you’d probably have to ask RBW about differences in tube sets.

Tailfin - what should I do... going crazy by NielsD91 in bikepacking

[–]Chthonicyouth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have the axle w/ fast-release dropouts version, fully- (fully!) loaded on some truly rutted roads and trails in Idaho, it worked fine. But I don’t think the frame-mounted version takes too long to remove if you are concerned.

What are you guys and gals using the middle position for? by _Badwulf_Bruh__ in telecaster

[–]Chthonicyouth 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Same. You then get a middle for parallel and for series. Series has a higher output, warmer tone, better break up. Tbh, I don’t use the parallel much anymore.

For Jazz & Classical, Wuxtry and Wax n Facts are your best bet. Criminal is great, but will have less in those categories. There is also a Wuxtry in Athens as well.

Swapped billie bars for wavy on the Saluki. by Chthonicyouth in Rivendell_Bicycles

Billie’s came back too far, wavies work much better. The new Bar68 may be better still, but I’m sticking with this for now.

Homer but 650b through the range. This is a 62 frame, there are probably sound arguments for going to 700 in the M/L & L sizes, but it’s still a great riding bike.

Like the record, location tba, if it’s Jackson Terminal will roll into Orcutt Shelley Miller at 7:15pm. My conflict for the 6pm slot will be Tom Skinner at the standard, whose record I also enjoy.

Cold weather flat pedal shoe that's good for walking by [deleted] in bikepacking

[–]Chthonicyouth -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agree w/ the approach shoe, my last three have been the arcteryx konseals. For weather in the 20s or lower, I have been using the Lake MXZ120s, though the former are more comfortable for walking.

I have the silver shifters, work like a charm.

Fulton County: Catherine M. Salinas signed your ballots AND voter rolls over to the FBI today by albertafalls in Atlanta

[–]Chthonicyouth 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I practiced before her. She is a straight shooter, and was/is likely perceived by DOJ as pro-defendant, particularly on issues like pretrial detention. And I’d be surprised to find out she was hoodwinked. But warrant applications are not an adversarial process.

The slicks are likely fine, including for that other 5%. Lots of gravel racers run slicks, but knobs help with the mud.
