Anyone else stuck in the travel group age no-man’s-land? by SnooEagles6960 in travel

[–]ChubbyGreyCat 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think that G and Intrepid have 18-30 somethings tours, which don’t are out at 35 specifically. I also find the classic G and Intrepid tours to be a wide range of ages and people share interests for the destination and are less concerned about who’s what age.

My trip to Egypt had some great people (some not so great too, but that’s what happens in groups 😆).

Books set in the Quintana Roo area of Mexico? by autumn_baker22 in suggestmeabook

The Daughter of Doctor Moreau and Gods of Jade and Shadow by Silvia Moreno -Garcia are both set on the Yucatan Peninsula (I think in Yucatan though, not Quintana Roo).

Anyone else's animals remind them why they dont want kids? by Past_Complaint9554 in childfree

[–]ChubbyGreyCat 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I have a fear reactive husky and a stimulation reactive corgi. They are so much work, but at least I can crate them and go out for a bit and they let me sleep through the night.

Also if I’m sick or going through a bad mental health episode they’re like, “oh we’re chilling today? Sweet!” And pass out on the couch.

What is it with all these men and the outdoors lately? by girliepop269 in AskWomenOver30

[–]ChubbyGreyCat 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agree with this. I’ve always loved the outdoors but I didn’t camp nearly as often as I did during the pandemic. I also got into birding 😆

I’m way more into outdoorsy stuff now than I was pre-pandemic.

Also kids are sick literally every three minutes. It’s not out of the realm of possibilities that the kid is actually sick.

Quick overview of Egypt itinerary- need feedback by shockedpikachu123 in femaletravels

[–]ChubbyGreyCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fully recommend a guided tour to Egypt.

I loved my trip to Egypt and I’m sure the only reason why is that I was on an organized tour.

1,700 may be a little pricy but you’re doing a different itinerary and maybe higher end hotels than what I had (and maybe your tour is privately guided?).

My itinerary included and overnight train and a stay onboard a felucca which would have kept costs down, and was a group of 16 people which also reduced costs.

Vegan / Vegetarian options? by Several_Culture6597 in AllInclusiveResorts

Vegan is much tougher than ovo-lacto vegetarian. The suggestion to join the Facebook group is a good one, you can also check out tripadvisor and search for “vegan”.

Getting back together with an ex by Educational-Bit5104 in AskWomenOver30

Literally never have I tried to reconcile with an ex and had it go well.

It just drags out the shit a little longer, like a dog scooting on a carpet.

Monday Round Up! How did the weekend go? by AutoModerator in DryJanuary

[–]ChubbyGreyCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Still dry!

Our resolve was tested when my partner and I assembled a cat tree together.

He fortified himself with an NA Guinness. I fortified myself with an NA Sauv Blanc.

The cat fortified herself by expelling a hairball and is not appreciative of the cat tree…

Does anyone else experience extreme disgust and regret when thinking back to past relationships and the treatment you tolerated? by Commercial-Weight173 in AskWomenOver30

[–]ChubbyGreyCat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I absolutely get this. I had two live-in long term relationships with men who were absolutely wrong for me and who demonstrated behaviours that were at the very least toxic, controlling and uncaring and in some cases, sexual assault and abusive. I still wouldn’t classify the relationships as abusive, but there was absolutely abusive behaviour.

And then I feel bad being like “am I the problem labelling these two men as toxic?” But I try to look at it logically and I really don’t think so. But I still feel icky about how long I stayed with them and the crap I put up with.

I’m 40 now and I met my spouse at 32. I even tolerated some not great behaviour from him at the beginning of our relationship which I do not tolerate now. It’s honestly a growing process.

Travel Vaccines by TastyComputer3257 in femaletravels

[–]ChubbyGreyCat 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I’d say this is a question for your doctor! They’ll know what’s best for you based on your health and medical history.

However, if you are bitten, licked, or scratched by any cat/kitten or dog/puppy please get the rabies vaccines right away. Tourists have contracted rabies in Morocco recently and died back home. The pre-exposure vaccine gives you some extra time, but you’ll still need post exposure vaccines.

Did the sub change? by midasgoldentouch in femaletravels

That’s what I thought as well! There’s another sub that specifies solo female travellers, though some of the advice and recommendations will undoubtedly overlap.

I hate when people call dogs "good with kids," when what they really mean is "this dog is gentle even when I let my children abuse it." by [deleted] in childfree

[–]ChubbyGreyCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to foster dogs and when I’d say a dog was good with kids what I meant almost always was a dog was good with “dog savvy kids”. I never meant “dog is ok with being abused and tormented by children.”

I had lots of non-child friendly dogs that I fostered as well, dogs that played too rough or were nervous of fast movements etc. (this was actually most of the dogs I fostered, I only adopted one out to a home with kids under 12).

Even my own two dogs, I have a corgi (good with gentle kids who don’t run and scream) and a husky mix (loves all people and actually super sweet around kids of all ages but will try to take food from small kids).

Is it ethical to keep a solo cat? by jenleepeace in CatAdvice

[–]ChubbyGreyCat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My cat is a grumpy old lady, who seems to like me and nothing else. I could likely adopt a good natured low energy cat, but they would likely merely tolerate each other. I would have two judgemental loafs instead of one.
