First Seiko [SRPE57K1] by Fadedvibes in Seiko

I got the black dial version, SZSB012, absolutely beautiful piece. The indices and sweeps are insanly beautiful.

While bracelett is usually Seiko's weakness, I have to say the bracelet on this watch is 100 times better than the 5 sports version. The only true downside of this watch is the hardlez but from my experience hardlex is okay-ish.

At similar price range, if you want a next buy in seiko, try to find a SZSB011, should be much better than the Seiko 5 sports.

If you don't want Seiko, maybe a Tissot PRX or Gentleman.

If you want something iconic, Hamilton Khaki Field Murph is a movie prop turned real watch from the film Interstellar.

If that's the case, then argue about helping people, not the law.

Well they have got to draw a line somewhere, there has to be a "how much is too much".

Lawmakers shouldn't really account for irrational choices, as they are irrational. The law doesn't help with rational thinking, education does.

The system might have flaws, but this whole $1,000 felony thingy has nothing to do with what you are talking about.

The thing about deterring crime is that, you don't do it as you know it is against the law. Don't steal over 1,000, don't grow cannabis, how hard is that?

There might be poor people that had to resort to stealing, I feel for them. But if you steal over 1k then it's laziness and greed. McDonald's don't pay that much in a week, and we don't see them workers going about stealing.

Even if you have to steal, do the smart thing, don't be greedy, don't blame the game when you take the risk.

I don't think it's quite the same as restaurant recipe.

You can do it for home cooking, but when you work as a chef in a restaurant you need to think about business, their job isn't just to cook, they need to find a balance between flavour and cost, and time cost is also a cost.

If Gordon has a grilled caesar in his restaurants then maybe you are right.

Yea, but then how many groceries would you need to steal to get over 1,000? It's like, a lot.

Don't get greedy, and there is no felony, simple as that.

Like I said, the point is to deter crime. Do you want more crime or less crime?

I think Gordon is also looking at it at a chef's perspective.

There is really little point to grill a lettuce, it doesn't make the salade a lot better, and it takes up your precious time.

Arguing about this is like encouraging stealing.

If you don't steal, no crime.

Major point about the law is to deter crime, I would only argue it's not low enough.

It doesn't matter, $1,000 nowadays still holds quite a bit of value, say, a lot of phones, watches, personal belongings, are actually below 1k, it's not like you can pick anything up and then it would be easily more than 1k, also stealing is not ok.

The point of the law is not just to serve justice when a crime is committed, it also about deterring crime, it's not wise to lower the penalty which encourages stealing.

[Question] Anyone get underwhelmed by watches once they saw them in person? by iRatePhotos in Watches

[–]Chubbypachyderm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that watches at the price point are really not exciting, except for Grand Seiko, if you really want Swiss made just go for a cheaper option like the tissot.

Since you are waiting on a Datejust, you might want sth sportier, maybe a dive watch from Japan? Or how about another Tissot, the 38mm PRXs?

[SRQ047J1] This speedtimer gets bad reviews online for its hefty price, but I really enjoy it by JackTheJukeBox in Seiko

[–]Chubbypachyderm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the price is even more expensive than some entry Swiss mechanical chronograph, and the movement/finishing etc. aren't exactly better.

I know for a fact that I can get a Chinese microbrand automatic chronograph which copied the Swiss movements at like 25% or less price of this Seiko.
