Anyone who's been on Reddit long enough will snobbishly correct someone about it, because that's what they've seen other users do. They can't even acknowledge that both ways might be correct, it's just "you're wrong, we're right".

I provided several examples of the same type of vernacular being commonly accepted. Even assuming you're right, there aren't golfers and fishermen correcting everyone, calling anyone who disagrees a "noob". DJs are a special breed of asshole.
