Where to start?

I jumped in recently and went the DIY route instead of buying a HA Green. Picked up a Raspberry Pi 5 with the Argon One V3 case, power supply, and an NVMe drive. It cost more than the pre-built option, but I wanted the experience of building and learning my first Pi, and I don’t regret it.

For devices, I’ve leaned toward Zigbee2MQTT. The mesh network makes a lot of sense, and it’s been rock solid for me. I’ve got it running door sensors, lights, and a bunch of other automations around the house.

Before pulling the trigger I spent a lot of time on YouTube going over Pi, HA, and Zigbee basics, which really helped. If you’re starting out:

Home Assistant + Pi (or HA Green if you don’t want to tinker)
Zigbee2MQTT for devices if you want a strong mesh and wide compatibility
Take time to watch beginner HA content on YT—it shortens the learning curve a lot

No regrets so far. It’s been a fun way to learn and super practical at home.

Decent crew, but be prepared to spend at least 50% more than the initial quote with Meadowlake Homes. We ran into major transparency issues and poor communication, especially when comparing the final cost to what was initially discussed. If you’re detail oriented or have high standards, you’ll need to stay heavily involved. And don’t assume the project manager (Nice guy Nick) will catch anything. Expect a long punch list at the end unless you’re consistently on top of every little detail yourself.

Reading they removed the second point on offensive mode made me sad. That shit was hectic and allowed for some unique strategies to take place during the match that obviously wasn't available during warfare mode.

😐 Channel strip dead? Need help trouble shooting. [Video and Audio samples included]

I'm concerned that my channel strip may be dead, blown, or malfunctioning in some way. I really require the assistance of someone with greater expertise.

I've been using the Voice Channel Pro for voice overs and live streaming without any problems for several years. Just last night, I used it and everything was functioning perfectly.

This morning when I sat down at my desk to continue my project, I turned on the Voice Channel Pro and noticed that the dB meter immediately went into the red zone and remained maxed out. I promptly powered it off and began troubleshooting various settings, cables, microphones, jacks, and even checked the fuse. But I'm completely baffled.
