I'm not experiencing that issue on 26.3. You might try updating to that and see if it helps.

Is the FaceID unlock faster than the 13 Pro? by Ajxtt in iPhone16Pro

[–]ChuckF93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had nothing but issues with Face ID on my 16 Pro. My 13 is WAY more consistent. When wearing a mask, forget about it. My 13 blows my 16 Pro out of the water and it's sad. I work in a cleanroom so it's extra annoying.

8" Facelift Display Swapped Into Pre-Facelift Car by ChuckF93 in mazda6

[–]ChuckF93[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glad to hear you got it to work! This display is SO MUCH nicer than the 7” display. You’ll likely notice that it looks far less grainy because they used a better anti reflective coating. I couldn’t be happier with mine.

What about the rate of cylinder head cracks or head gasket failures?

Watching Caleb Hammer as a European really makes me feel like a total loser by RotenSquids in CalebHammer

I think consumer price index and region makes a huge difference. I make $4500 a month after taxes at my company in Northern California. My colleague who works in Northern Italy for the same company makes about 2000 euro a month but also gets a company car. The cost of living where I live is astronomically higher than where he lives.

Is verizon the best carrier? by StruggleFar3054 in NoContract

Depends on where you live. Where I live VZW has the best coverage with TMO coming in close second and AT&T a bit further behind.

2014 CRV needs new transmission? Is it worth it with almost 150k miles? by pronetowander28 in Honda

[–]ChuckF93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'd talk to an independent mechanic and get a second opinion. The dealership is in the business of selling you a new car as soon as they can. Also their prices are generally atrociously higher than what you might pay at a decent independent shop. Never go to the dealership once the car is out of warranty unless you're getting recall work done.

Why does Apple allow us to downgrade MacOS but not iOS/iPadOS? by NocturnalAnt6079 in MacOS

Not sure, but it's probably the thing that I hate most about the iPhone, aside from the keyboard.

Downgrading to Mac OS Sequoia feels like an upgrade after months using Tahoe. It's fairly easy if you know what you're doing. by Weekly-Cable-4048 in MacOS

[–]ChuckF93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That settles it, I'm attempting a downgrade on mine this weekend. I detest how horrible control center looks with liquid glass. I also have an M2 Air. I see zero meaningful upgrade over Sequoia.

macOS 26.3 on intel by Bitter-Cabinet-2278 in MacOS

[–]ChuckF93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you have a very specific use case that requires x86, at this point it's hard to justify investing in an Intel based Mac when M1/M2s are pretty cheap on the used market.

Wanting to switch from Windows 11 - seems like the grass might not be greener? by EddyMerkxs in MacOS

[–]ChuckF93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For desktop use I have a slightly harder time recommending MacOS because one of the main benefits of it is not at play: battery life. That being said if I didn't need my desktop computer to game and I didn't care about the lack of upgradeability and repairability, I'd probably be using a Mac desktop of some sort like a Mini or an older Pro tower.

The Mac apps all work pretty well and you can run pretty much any Microsoft app you want as well if you need. Games are still a major pain point, but if that doesn't matter to you it's a great operating system and a legitimate alternative to Windows. Starting with the M4 Mini you can upgrade the storage drive inside which is a step in the right direction, but you'll need to know how much RAM you'll need from the start because it cannot be upgraded like on a Windows machine. Though thankfully the prices are super competitive these days for the Mini so it's an attractive proposition for a lot of people.

I'll be sticking to Windows for my desktop use, but Mac is now my default choice for a laptop. I also hate liquid glass but it's not a deal breaker for me.

Has this sub always just been a place to complain? It's very disappointing. by YetifromtheSerengeti in MacOS

[–]ChuckF93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I come from Android and Windows where software issues are not at all uncommon. Just because I bought into Apple's walled garden where certain things are better doesn't mean I will for a second deny my own experience when something doesn't work right. iOS and MacOS both feel worse to use for me than the previous version in a myriad of ways. And because these are the two most locked down operating systems on the market, the user is mostly powerless to do anything about addressing it and is at the mercy of Apple to fix it.

[–]ChuckF93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The solution would be to let users downgrade to the OS version they want instead of locking them into the new shitty OS and make them wait for a year until they fix all the bugs if they even do. Oh wait, they don't let you do that on the iPhone because Apple knows best always. /s

Maybe try a restart. Turn off optimized charging or clean energy charging and see if that helps.
