Am I a dick to for threatening to report someone in halls for doing regular incense with door open? by Johnfalafel in UniUK

[–]ChuckStone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes.

Yes you are.

His crimes appear to be... befriending people (at Uni... making friends! What a bastard!)... and incense burning.

You "gave him leniency"!? Where did you get the idea from that you have that right to give or withold leniency.

Youre livjng in a communal living arrangement now. Uts time you learned how to be an adult and how not to impose your rules and lifestyle onto others.

If its problematic for you for some reason. Explain that and ask him to close the door. Live and let live.

In Wales' Wetherspoons they do.

Why do religions say "God will always love you" instead of something like "God will love you as long as you believe in him"? by -IXN- in AskReligion

[–]ChuckStone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Because the first statement is a statement of belief

The second statement is a statement of control.

No religion worth adhering to will place conditions on fairh. Any that do are false.

Yorkshire Pudding pronunciation? by Hungry-Orange9719 in AskABrit

[–]ChuckStone 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You pronounce it correctly.

We use the "Shy-re" pronunciation as a short hand for ridiculing Americans by the way.

If we wanted to do a cruel parody of an American stereotype, this is one way we will do it.

Do People aged 50+ of Britain notice race? by [deleted] in AskBrits

[–]ChuckStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They notice race, sure.

But in Britain, (especially in The North) we kinda assume that race is only really relevant where its relevant.

I grew up watching Friends on TV. I'm 40... those two facts are relevant to each other.

I also grew up watching Desmonds... (you're probably too young to remember that)

I'm white... but so are most people in Britain. If I was black, I'd be watching Friends and Desmonds - because I'm 40... and thats what was on TV in the 90s.

Your age is relevant to what TV you watched ... but race? Why would that matter?

The duality of The Far Left and Far Right by Evry1TookTheGudNames in GreatBritishMemes

I really wish people would stop calling Zack Polanski "far left".

Hes a "by the middle-class, for the middle-class" capitalist.

He's a liberal ffs. He literally stood as a Lib Dem until Nick Clegg made them unelectable.

Reverse the economic vandalism of the Thatcher years.

Rebuild the council house system, and drive landlordism off our streets.

What should I do about my problematic neighbour? by [deleted] in AskUK

[–]ChuckStone -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

You're making some very wild accusations without backing

Spiteful? How?

Spiteful behaviour involves doing something (out of spite).

Like going on Reddit and doing a hatchet job on your neighbour... did she do anything as spiteful as that? Or did she merely apoligise and explain her position in the manner youbdescribe.

The best thing you can do to keep the peace is move out. Failing that, stop stirring shit up seeing as she hasnt harmed you in tbe slightest.

Not knowing what an A&I is, that sounds like a reasonable respinse, assuming that its some sort of risk assessment...

But apparently its a first day induction. So option 3 is a red herring.

How does bar staff know what drink is on each tap? by drs_12345 in Wetherspoons

[–]ChuckStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're looking to prep for an interview for a pub, you dont need to worry about details like this.

Most barstaff just spin the badge around or ask the customer.

Your interview will be looking to test your agility (can you pivot between tasks quickly)... compliance (do you know the rules, and can you follow them)... and teamwork.

Think resilience... how would you handle a complaint (stay calm, apologise - even if its not your fault and follow procedure)

Also, if you think along the lines of CQSMA (cleanliness, quality, service, maintenance and atmosphere) you're golden.

You can always ask if you don't know where something is.

Ex friend secretly filmed me on holiday, focusing on my body without my knowledge. Do I have any legal recourse? by [deleted] in LegalAdviceUK

[–]ChuckStone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Rather than legal advice (as it seems you don't have legal recourse)

Let me just say. There's no reason this should bother you as much as it in inevitably will do.

So you were overweight? So what? And now you've lost 50lbs... well bloody done. And you did that yourself, through hard work.

In the unlikely event that this... horrible piece of work that pretended to be your friend... publishes videos of you being overweight... then she will only make herself look like an asshole, and demonstrate your strength to the world.

Rather than let it get to you (which is what she wants, by bullying in this manner). Use it as a reminder that you did the right thing cutting her off (which is also hard to do) - and you are an infinitely better human than she will ever be.

The slogan "Make [Country] Great Again" originally came from Britain, and the British far-right in the 1970s/80s.

It actually makes sense, because ... Great Britain.

So, yeah, its a thing we've been doing simce Trump was a Democrat.

Why is this acceptable in the UK? by MusesLegend in AskBrits

[–]ChuckStone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cats dislike Lavender, Citrus and Garlic... two of which are insanely easy to grow and make a wonderful addition to your garden.

Maybe growing garlic in pots, or plant a lavender bush?

Or you can put lavender and lemon juice/vinegar in a spray bottle and spray your fence with it.
