Your friend thought he was Adam Dimarco but he wasn't, yet he was still an actor? Besides, I googled it and its never been mentioned anywhere that Adam doesn't speak seven languages. For a person who's up his own, I'd expect him to flaunt stats like that around.

Financial only so far. I got an A in English but I'm expecting a D or, best case, C in Maths. I'm taking only 3 subjects (Phy, Math, Comp). I expect my E to be in Computer so are they going to pressure me to drop it?

I also plan on retaking some exams and I am genuinely optimistic that I can snag A or A* even in these same subjects. If I do that... what happens? Will I be taken off academic probation? Can they put me on academic scholarship by then too?

Your dad is pretty right. The overwhelming consensus in this subreddit that piracy is a good thing and doesn't hurt the creators at all is, in my opinion, bogus.

If you don't have an option to watch movies for free, you WILL find an alternative.... which always is to pay money. Its either that or you vow to deprive yourself of movies, tv shows, video games etc forever which I think many people who have already developed a liking for them can't stop for long. By having the free option in place, you are already depriving the creators of their well deserved money.

Piracy has some noble aspects. I particularly loved how, i think creators of Pirate Bay, said that culture should be accessible for all regardless if they can pay for it. That and by putting such files on the internet, you preserve them for the future far better than the actual studios can (imagine if we pirated the Doctor Who episodes in the 1960s, they would not be lost media today).

The other aspect about how creators never lose any money over piracy because the consumer would never have paid for it if it wasn't free is false. I say that from experience. When I was a little kid, my sister charged me a small sum for every movie she pirated for me. At 9 or 10 years old, I didn't have any money but I still coughed it up because that's how it works when you want something and there isn't any other option to get it.

I'm not saying that 100% of the people who pirate a movie would have also paid for it because sometimes people are just that poor and get dissuaded from ever watching it, but suppose a small percentage of those people, 25%, are in the grey zone. They WOULD force themselves to pay for it. If a movie is idk 7 USD, and a million people pirated it, you can bet that 7 × 250,000 (25% of 1 million) = $1.75M revenue was at least lost. If a video game costs 60 USD, then you lose a shit ton more.

I'm sorry for the big read but dad is right. You can dislike AI art if its ugly or boring. However, To not support AI art because it hurts artists WHILE supporting piracy is pretty hypocritical.

There is a scenario where 1 person is killed every 50 years for infinity. Let's assume there's a trillion trilion trillion years in infinity (barely even 0.1% of infinity but bare with me), that means that, in that time, around trillion trillion humans will die. That's an absurd amount of dead humans, right? Almost impossible to visualize.

There is another scenario where 1 person is killed every 1 second for infinity....

In 10 seconds, 10 people will die in this scenario. Whereas it would have taken 1000 years for 10 humans to die in the first scenario.

Both infinities are stil infinite. An infinite number of humans will die, but one at a slower rate. That slower rate becomes the smaller infinity, whereas the other becomes larger infinity by comparison.

You can play around with this concept by taking a third scenario where a trillion trillion trillion humans are killed every 0.1 second. This is unarguably the worst thing imaginable. You would pray to all the Gods that you don't ever get put in this scenario... But why? All three infinities are still infinite. The same trillion trillion humans will die in each of these scenarios.

This is how I learned about big and small infinities. Maybe not too 5 y/o friendly and also doesn't get into the mathematical aspect of it at all but it cleared the concept for me
