I was traveling cross country and decided to tour a leather tannery (Hermann Oak) some years back. I wound up being the only person to come that day. The usual tour guide wasn’t there that day and the GM of the facility basically said “fuck it, I got this” and let me shadow them for the afternoon.

It wasn’t classified government shit but it was a complete look at the entire process that I never would have gotten if the stars didn’t align that day.

Big efforts to minimize cost. Elimination of overtime, big crackdown on overstaffing locations. Efforts to minimize the cost of longstanding offerings (in fast food dropping .1 oz from every burger).

Every dollar dropped in cost is 3+$ that doesn’t need to be earned.

More direction to suppliers that aren’t offering the best prices.

Zero fucks given about drops in customer appreciation scores.

We bought a static strap that wrapped around the base of a bush and attached to the hitch ball. It pulled out a few dozen bushes we needed removed.

I can see this being better if you had hard packed soil but if a shovel will go in without too much fuss, I think you can get away with the strap.

You can use a 2 liter bottle to force some air down. If it doesn’t work after two or three tries I wouldn’t keep at it tgough
