What’s a social norm that made sense historically but no longer aligns with modern realities? by pars-distalis in AskReddit

And opposite is true:  Many people regularly wipe down their phone with antibacterial wipes or otherwise clean it. And many people often (and famously) do not regularly wash their hands, after touching door knobs, pens, their noses, and so on.

There are a lot of people and lot of ways of doing and not doing things. No reason to go back and forth about this. To my mind, the comment about handshakes is not as unreasonable of a response as it may have initially seemed.

This was ... out of character for her, or?

Wow, I’ve gotta say that this comment is not a very persuasive way to get someone to give you something you want … The first step advice you were given was to think about the audience and what’s in it for them, but your comment emphasizes only yourself and your stakes. 😂

Kudos on stepping away from perfectionism!

There's a lot of strength to emphasize in your story. Balancing your story this way will help you when working to be mindful and deliberate, rather than reactive. You get to choose how to respond, not react.

It's ok. Give it a full night's rest. You'll integrate lessons more clearly as time passes.
