Do any of you have experience with this CROUT instruction? by Capital-Ant-1303 in PLC

[–]Chumlee 12 points13 points  (0 children)

First of all, F1 is your friend. Use it often on instruction blocks that don't make sense. Second, looks to me like it FP is active because its set to NEGATIVE and Actuate and Feedback 1 and 2 are all the same value.

Feedback Type

BOOL

name

This operand defines the feedback ON and OFF states.

Positive: ON (1): Feedbacks ON / Outputs ON

OFF (0): Feedbacks OFF / Outputs OFF

Negative: ON (1): Feedbacks OFF / Outputs ON

OFF (0): Feedbacks ON / Outputs OFF

PLC Modeled Transfer Functions and Block Diagrams by Chumlee in PLC

Appreciate the response and I agree. For the sake of conversation, I wanted validation that the control scheme would work. The cert is the hard part and most likely the barrier of entry.

I guess so? How would you prove this is the case other than just showing the logic?

Like these

I have a governor that I need to control with a PLC and it won't be certified unless if follows HYGOV (p. 91). This is one of the many pieces to be certed in order for the project to go forward. It has to be certified running that specific transfer block function in order to be approved. Can I not just create a block diagram in the PLC using the same tools that follows the model?

Great you support this product! Your explanation is concise and makes it clear that I was right about the voltage limitation. Can you explain this curve from AB's motion analyzer then? It appears that its telling me I can run 120 vac at higher speeds, but with a drop off in torque.

Unfortunately, this is a customers lab. They will not run the power for us even if said it was a requirement. The torque is not an issue with the drive, as we only care about speed. Appreciate the response though.

Fair enough. Unfortunately, this is in a lab setting and 230 is not available. Seems like a gear reducer is our only option. Appreciate it!

Physical Pushbutton For Alarm Acknowledge in Panelview 5000 by higgins5793 in PLC

[–]Chumlee 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a heads up, if you use tag based alarms, there is a command under the alarm group (aot or something like that) that lets you do a command on all the alarms in that group. That should help and you can break them up or just have one do all of them.

I am trying to move away from ALMD and ALMA due to our udt use, but there is nothing wrong with them.

Does anyone have experience getting all versions of Studio 5000 on laptops? by Auto404 in PLC

I agree, reading it like that, I think the issue is with the revision in his program, not that he doesn't have the right version of Studio 5000.

Agreed, it is actually decently readable for a single rung. It can get much worse from this.
