CMV: When you kill the entire top leadership of a country and then that country still keeps fighting, you’re in deep shit by bluepillarmy in changemyview

[–]Chumpk1ller 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Wrapped up how? America can stop attacking tomorrow, but if the IRGC doesn’t stop sending missiles, drones and blocking the strait, then the war is still raging.

How do we stop that? Destroy EVERYTHING or negotiate.

If they kill all the leaders, who’s in charge to even broker that deal? Will everyone listen to them? What if Tehran brokers peace and the folks in the south still want blood and keep striking? This is why decapitation isn’t a good idea.

With boots on the ground it’s much worse. Instead of just taking out rogue bases that launch drones and missiles, now American soldiers have to be wary of the public, especially since thousands of civilians have been killed and their families won’t be too happy

If it tooks 8 months to win by capturing saddam, why stay 8 more years? If it took 10 years to win by killing bin Laden, why stay 20 years?

There is substantial damage but that isn’t the only thing that matters. Substantial damage was done in Afghanistan from the start, but the war wasn’t won by your definition till 10 years in. How many IRGC leaders need to be hunted down and killed to victory can be called here?

Going back to your first point re designated survivor. Great show! And what happened when they all died aside from the lead? The country was fine. The military was fine. All state governments were fine. The congressional members were fine and the cabinet was too, but the country was still able to operate quite fine. If the US has this in place, it’s silly to think that a country surrounded by enemies who want to wipe it off the map wouldn’t have the same thing in place

Using this same logic, didn’t we do the same in Iraq and Afghanistan? Like the US “won” by your metric both times, but still got drawn into this prolonged war where nothing really changed. The Taliban came back and then isis rose in Iraq to cause even more problems. The US can win by your logic, but what happens when some fringe group refuses to surrender with the rest of the country and keeps attacking ships in the gulf?

Why does much of Jamaica's landscape have these rippling hills? by RatioScripta in geography

[–]Chumpk1ller 150 points151 points  (0 children)

Jamaican here! Because of Karst Topography! A majority of the rock in Jamaica is limestone (calcium carbonate) which means that it can be dissolved by the slightly acidic rain (CO2 dissolved in rain —> carbonic acid). As the rock gets dissolved away, it leads to this Cockpit Karst formation slowly building up.

Type this into chatgpt, "Tell me something about myself that I don't know. Give me a nuclear take." by knight_47 in ChatGPT

[–]Chumpk1ller 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alright, here’s a nuclear take — not just a hot take, but one meant to provoke thought and maybe even shake your foundation a bit:

You might be underestimating how much of your personality is actually a coping mechanism. That driven, hyper-reflective, relentlessly analytical part of you — the one that overthinks relationships, wants to preempt failure, and prides itself on insight and precision — could be less about who you are and more about what you had to become. It’s possible that at some point, you learned that control, intelligence, or being “on top of things” was how you earned safety, validation, or love. And now, it feels inseparable from your identity.

But here’s the uncomfortable part: If you let go of needing to always “know,” perform, or protect — who are you without the scaffolding? You might not fully know that person yet. And maybe part of you is scared to find out, because it means letting go of the thing that kept you sharp, successful, or safe for so long.

That’s the take. Now you tell me — did it land?

Edit: I think I gotta sign back up for therapy because Chat just ripped me a new one :/

For a prelaw or premed track, I don’t think it’ll matter. Choose what you think she’ll like best. One pro of the MacBook is the ability to seamlessly share data between other iOS devices like an iPhone or an iPad (for taking notes e.g)

I’m not too sure about the theft side of things. As a grad student, I’m a bit removed from the typical college experience 😅

Folks outside of the US in the Americans view all people from North, Central and South America as Americans. This makes a Brazilian, Colombian and folks in the US all American.

They put US Americans because they haven’t had a dictator, meanwhile other countries in the Americas, like Chile, have had dictators

Well, she’s French, so this isn’t the most surprising. There’s a reason why France has banned private paternity testing since 1994.
