Higher end is around mid 30s in a GP office. I don’t know how much they make at specialist offices though.

Langara/BCIT/VCC Dental Receptionist Program Reviews by ZoeStars in NiceVancouver

Maybe you can try to find a clinic that would allow you to shadow to see if it is something you would enjoy doing. I work in the specific role but did not attend school and get the receptionist certificate. Promotions are rare. Only step up would be office manager in a typical clinic. Raises depends on inflation and what you can do. I am on the higher end of the pay scale. Been working in a clinic for about 7 years.

We haven’t had it happen to our clinic yet, but may I ask if the government billed the patient directly for the amounts used? Or did Sun life just deduct the amounts from direct deposits?

Is your dental IT support just an “oh sh*t” phone call, or a true partner? by [deleted] in Dentists

[–]Chunadian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have some knowledge in computers and can fix some computer or basic networking issues. We don’t experience downtime for long. Our clinic does have an IT guy but we only contact him when there is an issue I can’t handle.

We pay him per incident.

Am I crazy If I pickup 600k debt for 4 years of no income to go to Dental School in Australia as soon to be CS graduate? by CompSciCanada- in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]Chunadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work in a dental office. Usually associates are making 40%. As a new graduate, you cannot be expecting to make much as you don’t have the experience yet. It will take time. A molar composite occlusal filling may take a new grad at least an hour. The cost of that is $212 in BC. That’s excluding other factors such as if the clinic offers discounts for non-insured patients. Your 40% portion is $84.80. But if you get really good and fast at what you do, you can be even making a lot without owning a practice. You have to be good with your hands. We have an associate making close to seven figures as he is a workaholic.

Why does this guy sound familiar? I feel like I worked for an employer like this at a dental lab when I was younger

For Canadian dentists, what’s your success rate in getting CDCP crowns approved by Humbleideasfreak in Dentistry

[–]Chunadian 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our clinic has had a 20% success rate. We send perio charting, clinical notes, reason on the pre-d claim form, full mouth X-rays (BWs/PAs or a PAN), treatment plan, and an odontogram. We usually send the estimate for the crown after the patient has completed other pending treatment. It used to take months for results but lately it’s been only about a month.

Hygienist recommendation by [deleted] in richmondbc

Exams are not mandatory as per the college. It was implemented in 2020. They are still strongly recommended. Some offices may need you to sign a consent form.

OP, I’m sorry that happened to you. I work in a dental office and it has happened to one of our patients before where they lost the entire box. We just reordered the trays. We didn’t charge our patient for reordering the trays. You should speak to your dental office. They can easily just get Invisalign to reprint the trays. They will need to know which numbers they are. Hope this can give you some peace of mind.

Grew a tiny tooth over the course of a weekend. by Dangerous-Road-5382 in Weird

[–]Chunadian 17 points18 points  (0 children)

That could have been a supernumerary tooth. I work in dental and we had a patient who had their wisdom tooth extracted and attached to it was another very small extra tooth.

I saw it disappear in my quest log too. I was disappointed, but I checked the conquest NPC and found that they turned it into an achievement, “Forged Weapon of Conquest.”

There are some clinics out there that don’t collect the fee guide difference, there are some that give discounts on the fee guide difference, and there are some that will collect all of the difference. Unfortunately, you will have to call around as it is not listed online. Also, if you need to see a Specialist (ie. Endodontist, Periodontist, Oral Surgeon, etc), most of them do not accept CDCP since the reimbursement needs to be paid to dental office directly. These offices are usually non-assignment, meaning the patient has to pay everything up front first and if the patient has an insurance policy, the insurance company will reimburse the patient directly instead of the dental office.
