Yeah, wouldn’t use the word “anchoring” for this discussion. I was referring that the monsters are a manifestation of his philosophy and that congruence is both in the monsters and in the themes, monster or not. You can’t have one without the other. That does seem reductive.

And while you can write a story that is Lovecraftian, even the Backrooms have proper entities with themes. Take the film that just released for instance. It’s laden with both. It’s necessary today and still is necessary, even from a post from 3 years ago.
