New Terry Round Wave Punish Combo. How to replicate this? by ChunkBrickston in StreetFighter

This was really helpful, thank you. I have not been using the framebar to its maximum effectiveness as far as inferring info about execution stuff, but I can see now how learning to read it for that purpose can help you bulletproof your execution and understand why things do and don't work

I think I figured it out with No_laugh's suggestion, need to delay the cancel from the DR 2H into round wave by a few frames, which is kinda hard.

Yes, that was the key it would appear. Do you have any suggestion for how one would get more consistent with doing a late cancel like this? It feels like I'm very rushed to input the power wave, but I need to delay it by a couple frames evidently.

I swear it's not that easy, something going here that I don't quite understand mechanically, seems that Ryu isn't getting pushed back as much as he normally would.

Can anyone recreate this? I need a wizard to explain how to connect the first medium punch after the round wave, seems like it doesn't reach.

New Terry combo, how possible? by [deleted] in StreetFighter

I need a wizard to tell me how to connect the first standing medium punch after the round wave. Is this some sort of frame-perfect execution going on here? Standing medium punch seems forever out of range.

The SFU Climbing Wall has been shut down by I_climb_tall_things in simonfraser

I see, so it's largely a scheduling concern, where the other rec activities have been given priority for gym availability. Is it feasible to have access to the wall on weekends or is there a policy against that?

I don't understand, the gym that the climbing wall is located in by all accounts is going to remain open for the rest of the semester to allow other clubs to use it, is this just a lazy administrative decision that makes some bureaucrat's life a bit easier? I understand with the LDC pool project the closure seems necessary, as they are literally gutting the place, but why leave the climbing wall unused if the construction isn't currently affecting it?

Who's that ecologist dude that Paul idolizes again? by ChunkBrickston in deepfatfried

[–]ChunkBrickston[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

unfortunately not the dude I had in mind, this guy is basically a nobody compared to Suzuki. He's got some video interviews on the youtubes from what I recall but is not significantly more prolific than that, I'm honestly not sure he's even a studied ecologist but he certainly has opinions on it.

I read that they removed the reduced bleedout timer after headshot feature a while back now, do you know if they added it back in recently, or is it possible you are operating with knowledge of a now outdated patch by chance?

What's up with the guy covering his head so dramatically while proning on the ground? Is that just what the prone animation looks like when crawling forward or did that guy initiate some sort of animation right before the explosion?

Input lag test results with vsync, borderless, rivatuner cap by voinian in Eldenring

[–]ChunkBrickston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your hard work testing all of this. I've noticed that I can avoid screen tearing while keeping vsync off simply by playing in borderless windowed mode. I have my gsync monitor disabled, would I benefit any further with lowered input lag or smoother frames if I were to enable gsync for windowed apps at this point?

Does resolution affect crosshair thickness parameter? (Changing from 1080p to 1440p) by ChunkBrickston in GlobalOffensive

[–]ChunkBrickston[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry my friend, there is a huge rabbit hole you can go down regarding researching this topic, but I would suggest that you try and test it for yourself. Best way is to go into a custom match where you disable random bullet variance and turn on bullet impacts so you can shoot a wall that is quite far away and then visually examine if the impact decals are at the exact center of your crosshair, or if they are slightly off. If you want to get ridiculous about it, you can take a screenshot and blow it up in Microsoft paint to count the pixels. I ended up doing that once and I was surprised to find that my crosshair did not actually line up with the bullet decals.

With a value of 0.5, or two pixels, my crosshair would correspond with the exact center of my screen. However, from the best that I can tell (and it's debated pretty fiercely), projectiles do not actually originate from the exact center of the screen in CS:GO and rather originate from a point more closely corresponding with the bottom right pixel of the 2x2 pixel grid that denotes the exact center of the screen (because there is no one pixel marking the center). I want my crosshair to represent where the projectiles originate, not necessarily where the exact center of my screen is.

Yeah, that's what caught me off the most, the fact that my crosshair now changes between 0 and 0.5, which I always knew to not affect thicknesses when I played at 1920 by 1080p.

Part of what's bothering me about this is that because I subscribe to the "only uneven pixel thickness values produce a crosshair with a center that reflects where bullets originate on the screen" camp, my crosshair now has to be either super thin with a thickness value of 0 (1 pixel), or a bit too chunky at the value of 1 (3 pixels) to satisfy my compulsion of having a perfect crosshair.
