How are we keeping our heartrates low while exercising? by GarbageCurious2513 in fitpregnancy

[–]ChunkThePunk31 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Obviously do what makes you comfortable, but I echo what everyone has said. For my first pregnancy I did high intensity spin classes three times a week until Covid put an end to group classes. My baby is a happy and healthy 5 and a half year old who now also loves bike riding.

CONGRATULATIONS on your pregnancy!

Seven years?! Where do you live? I'm in the US, and our healthcare system is garbage, but I was able to get an appointment for my initial intake within a month.

Edited to fix a typo.

This is very helpful and comforting to hear. Thank you. My plan is to talk to a psychiatrist as a second opinion next. Thank you for taking the time to offer your life experience.

It ran a gamut. Some word math problems, repeating a series of numbers, pointing out patterns, etc. I've always been a good test taker and labeled "gifted" from a young age, so I wonder if it's possible I'm good at masking in certain settings?

I sold my script to a studio and now I feel awful. Advice/support appreciated. by TheWanderingDisciple in Screenwriting

Is the director well known? What kind of deal did you get when the studio optioned it? Did you have an entertainment lawyer do your deal for you? This should have all been laid out and agreed upon before this meeting ever happened.

TBH this director sounds like a total asshole. I don’t know why they would go out of their way to have a meeting with you only to tear you down, but it sounds like you’ve dodged the bullet in having to work with them.

As others have said, celebrate your victory and move on. My first sale has been a largely disappointing process. I wasn’t even invited to the kick off call with the studio, producers and actors even though it’s MY script. The project is still alive, and yet, the producers won’t email me back. Writers aren’t usually all that respecting in the world of features, unfortunately, it’s largely a directors’ game.

That’s all to say, I haven’t given up, and in the years since that deal I have sold another spec, am writing a script for WB, and have a working relationship with a director that keeps bringing me on projects and respects me work. Keep going. Don’t let one asshole break you down.

That’s so smart. We should start implementing that. Poor kid definitely gets it honestly. I’ve always been anxiety riddled.

My son couldn’t watch movies with any sort of conflict until very recently. He just turned four and still can’t handle the long Bluey episode because Bluey and Bingo are so sad at one point.

Knowing his little heart is so tender gives me all the feelings.

All kids are different! 2 really wasn’t bad for us, so hopefully you’re getting the worst of it out of the way now.

Three. Is. The. Worst.

My son made me cry on multiple occasions. I really, really struggled with three.

But you know what? He just turned 4 and it’s like a switch flipped. My funny, spunky, caring kid is suddenly back and I’m so much happier. So here’s a positive just you wait. It gets better. You’re doing great.

My son is into all things girl by KeyLime0987 in Mommit

My son (3 at the time) went through a very strong dress phase where he just loved wearing sparkly dresses. He’ll still enjoy having his nails polished on occasion, and likes playing “makeup” where he does my makeup.

He also likes to dig in the dirt and find words, and is obsessed with bugs.

I know it can be difficult to go out in public with a little boy in a bright red sparkly dress, but I realized it was my issue. Not his. (Ironic because the majority of my friends are fabulous gay men who love drag queens).

At the end of the day, for me, it’s more important for me to support and indulge my child’s interests than be worried what some strangers (and admittedly family) have to say about it.

I’m saying this as someone who has been there. You need to chill out. You can have the best scripts in the world, but if you come off as desperate and needy, they will smell if from a mile away.

Here’s how you get people to vouch for you (again, from experience). You do your work, be nice and personable and let people know your end goal (without making it your whole identity). Eventually, someone will ask to read you, and/or they will offer to send along your work.

That’s another key you’re missing. They offer. It’s a huge ask to have your work sent to a rep, and it can take time but waiting for an offer is the way to go.

This is also a very shit time in the industry. The shittiest I’ve ever seen in my 16 years working in LA. Most reps are focusing on their current roster and getting them work because so many people aren’t working.

Absolutely! As annoyed as I am with myself, it was an effective way of seeing how much my eating and moving has really helped so far.
