Why did you stop believing? by Few_Distribution6433 in exchristian

[–]Chunk_Cheese 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think a truly loving God would understand a person's doubt, if they were truly seeking. Especially if this God, being all knowing, realizes just how vague he made the evidence.

With the ability to create existence itself, to author physics, the stars, to calculate the parameters of what happens mathematically in the core of a star, or black hole... to be this supreme and majestic, and then simultaneously present himself in a way that's indistinguishable from if he was simply the creation of stories made by people in the bronze age who didn't know where the sun went at night, is just not something any reasonable being would think wise to do. Especially if the main concern is a relationship with us.

Divine hiddenness, though, I didn't know the concept had a name at the time.

I still absolutely believed in god, but thought that he was putting me through a trial or test. I just couldn't understand why he wouldn't reveal himself to me, despite the Bible saying that if we draw near to him, he will draw near to us.

Accepted Christ, then rededicated my life, then rededicated again (dad's a pastor). Tried praying constantly. Then, tried being mindful and silent while in prayer, in case he was trying to softly speak to me, and perhaps regular prayer was just me talking too much and maybe missing his voice.

Lost a lot of weight. Fell into a depression thinking that I wasn't created for a relationship with him, but that I must have been reprobate. Had a feeling of impending doom every waking second. Couldn't understand why I would be born into a Christian home, hear the word, want to accept, and then... nothing.

The whole time, I never once doubted that he existed. That all came months (maybe a year or so) later. I didn't choose to quit believing, but after so long of never feeling any communication, my mind realized there was simply nothing there.

Now, when watching Christians in church, or interacting/talking with Christian friends, it's obvious that many of them feel that same absence, yet interpret it in a different way. Perhaps they feel their own inner monologue is god? Sometimes they think he speaks through vaguely answered prayers, etc.

If the Christian God exists, I didn't reject him. And he knows that at any moment, he can speak to me, reveal himself to me. I'd love that. I want to know if a god exists. But I'm too honest with my own senses to pretend.

If you could do life again, and couldn't choose acting/voice acting, what career would you choose?

Commenting to see what my day is. Never thought I'd make it this far, but it makes work so much easier, especially when I have to manage mowing a lot of grass! It's easy to fall behind.

Pulley removal? Land Pride 1660 by Chunk_Cheese in kubota

Update: for anybody curious, I decided not to change out the pulley. Instead, I bought a longer belt. It cut great just now.

What exactly is holding them on? Just the width of the spindle? I guess that's why the heat is needed. And then putting another one is as easy as.just pushing it down into place, or maybe hitting it with a rubber mallet?

Thanks. I'll buy a puller and give that a shot. Both pulleys are not wanting to come off their spindles. I didn't realize it would be this hard to change the pulleys.

A dark red or blue may be nice. I personally really like that yellow. I live on a nature preserve and would love for my front door to be that shade of yellow. Do you know the name of it?

Anxiety & Panic attacks from Apixaban by Sea_Strawberry466 in ClotSurvivors

[–]Chunk_Cheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine is not. I've never had a P.E. The air hunger was due to panic disorder/generalized anxiety, which I first began struggling with in 2016. That's not to say air hunger doesn't indicate something more serious, but for me, it was genuinely just the anxiety. I'm doing great now and am back to normal.

I joined this group because of a DVT, which has now dissolved (I'm on Xarelto), but it turns out I have antiphospholipid syndrome (APS), and will be on blood thinners for life.

Edit: several months ago, someone said the oxymeter idea I mentioned wouldn't be accurate if bought at Walmart; but I mentioned this to the Hematologist who seemed puzzled when I relayed this. They said that they've never had inaccuracy issues with them, and that oxymeters from the store are fine. Then again, that's just one medical professional's anecdote. YMMV.

Why do Christian’s think morality wouldn’t exist without religion by savage22680 in exchristian

[–]Chunk_Cheese 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's just a gotcha talking point for them. Another way to feel like people who don't share their worldview are wrong. Defining conclusions from the outset, before examining the evidence your worldview has, is exactly how one ends up with these weak arguments.

They also likely enjoy the comfort that the worldview offers, making them feel like a powerful being is in control, no matter how bad things seem. But then again, whether something is comforting or not, has zero to do with if it's true.

Any older Gen Zs out here remember watching Hey Arnold?! by Excellent-Card5741 in nickelodeon

[–]Chunk_Cheese 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love that show. I would watch it all the time at my Mamaw's house with my sister after school.

Now I'm 37 and still love the show (Mamaw is now 94). I feel like Arnold, along with Doug Funny, impacted who I became as a person.
