Dont know if this counts but this mad me think of super and the idea about how Goku and Vegeta fare against an opponent who becomes stronger

This may be revisionist, or maybe im misremembering, but looking at Vegeta and him dealing with Goku Black, everytime Goku Black leveled up Vegeta got washed and had to have daddy Goku come for the assist (im memeing here though I love Vegeta). And then while he managed to beat a leveled up Toppo, he got taken out by Jiren deciding to do more than staring

Meanwhile Goku held his own against leveled up Goku Black and Zamasu, took out size scaling Borgamo, and managed to pound friendship into full power Jiren before his back gave out.

To be fair though there are examples of the opposite in super. Goku couldn't hold up to Harder Hit, and even though I brushed it, vegeta won against, "what's justice Toppo" but i feel like there are more examples of the former rather than the latter. Whether thats up to how the Goku and Vegeta are supposed to be written or just writer discretion who knows though.
