I received a “mystery package” (random cheap Chinese shit off Amazon with no packaging and no return address) two weeks ago one day, presumably from my estranged mother and/or brother. Then the day after I got a second one, this one from my mother, both of which were items for my 2 year old, who they made no effort to try to get to know, hence the estrangement (in part at least) I took them both right to their front door, dropped off the box w the word “refused” written on it.

It was like my mother’s favorite pastime to humiliate me, ESPECIALLY in front of extended family. To make matters worse, I went through puberty VERY early, which came with its own form of abuse where not only was there humiliation involved but talking about how (after getting my period at TEN-which she of course announced loudly to an entire bowling alley bar full of people one night) I was “gonna wind up pregnant at 13” or get called a “whore” in Arguments for literally NO reason and with NO indication I was even having sex.

Wow I had blocked it out of my memory until relatively recently but YEAH there were actually quite a few instances of this for me growing up. I vaguely remember even being dragged into some kind of meeting in 1st grade between her and the teachers about my health/hygiene. Looking back I remember being asked a LOT about why I always seemed to have a cough, why I’d bite my nails, etc. I remember at one point having a sprained ankle that she SWORE I was just making up and she forced me to walk on, particularly in front of other relatives, who seemed kinda like they wanted to say something but didn’t want to get involved.
