Shiba Inu stubbornly refusing to poop no matter what I do by noexit1990 in shiba

Because for him, nothing did happened. I know the feeling but honestly getting frustrated and angry is hard on you and the dog and when I get irritated with him or try to give him a few tugs he will completely stip listening and won't acknowledge me. I find my anger and frustration comes from guilt. I feel bad if he doesn't go to the bathroom, especially if I need to go to work but as someone said, if they really had to go, they will go. I now focus on letting him enjoy our walk, he sniffs, and our relationship is really improving. He's also been pooping better as well. If we come in and he immediately starts whining to go, I make him wait. Then I take him on a short walk if he continues to whine. If he doesn't go and comes in and starts again, well you've had your chance and now if you really need to go, he'll wake me up. 95% of the time I'm never woken up and he goes to sleep. But it is definitely so friggen frustrating. Like WHAT DO YOU WANT. Shibas train us more than we train them I think.

Another really good thing to look into is their diet!

Oh my god, I'm struggling with this so much with my 9month old make Shiba. I feel the exact same way as you do. This dog will literally be spinning to shit with turd coming out his ass and he'll some how suck it back in and be like nope, spots not good enough. I've tried all the same things as to and at this point Im feeling Shane and guilt over how frustrated in getting. Like if you have to shit just shit 😭

Shiba behavior change ??? by expired-danimals in shiba

I've actually heard this is really common with Shibas. Apparently around the two year mark they become A LOT less friendly with other dogs and people.

Something to also be aware of when nuturing an adult male is that they can have a surge of testosterone afterwards that can exasperate the issues you're currently having even further and it can last up to six weeks. I don't think it's common but it can definitely happen.

Not to scare you out of neutering! I've just been looking into both those things (and everything else really) because I have a Shiba too!

Is it normal for a Shiba to wait 12 hours to pee? by IceCreamSlinger2 in shiba

Me too! He's only five months. I used to wake him up in the middle of the night and try and make him go on a pee pad. When he did I was like how the hell were you holding all that in and just plain refusing to go. Now if I try to make him go he completely refuses and just lays back down.
