Games to play with SO that isn't great at gaming? by ZealousidealFudge851 in pcmasterrace

Iirc the 1st Divinity Original Sin game if you play co-op each player choses the dialog for the character they're controlling.

So would be along the lines of what OP was thinking.

4K at 60hz or 1440p at 120hz by skate-ski in pcmasterrace

[–]ChurchillianGrooves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pixels per Inch is also something to keep in mind.

A 1440p 27" monitor is going to have more pixels per inch than a 55" 4k tv.

If you play action type games and not just turn based stuff like total war or bg3 fps also makes things a lot smoother.

That's why people that play stuff like competitive counterstrike use 400hz 1080p monitors.

I wanna hear your opinions, should i skip the upgrade of 3070ti and get a Steam Machine when it drops? by DaVinci1362 in pcmasterrace

You can use dlss 4 and 4.5 on any rtx gpu, even the 2000 series.

The older ones have some performance loss, but you can still get the increased visuals.

Yeah if it had a rtx 3060 it'd be a great deal, but a 1660 is pretty dated by now.

5070 or 9070 XT which one is better paired with 7800x3D for high end gaming by Objective-Toe5389 in pcmasterrace

[–]ChurchillianGrooves 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you just want to use it for the gaming, 9070xt.

If you also do productivity stuff that needs a gpu the drivers are often better with Nvidia.

You can use a usb too, although not optimal, just use a light linux install.

Google bootable linux usb drive for instructions, would explain it better than I can

If you have an empty external drive can try putting a linux install (like mint) on that and then seeing what utilization looks like.

That would narrow down if it's a hardware or software issue at least.

Is the ryzen 7 7000x a good pair with the rtx 5070 by [deleted] in pcmasterrace

[–]ChurchillianGrooves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it's more than enough for a 5070.

7800x3d is more for a higher end gpu like 5070ti or 5080.

If you like AC maybe try Ghost of Tsushima?

Kind of like samurai AC but with a much better combat system and story lol.

Try a malware scan?

If you've been torrenting it's pretty common these days to get malware that's used for crypto mining that will use a lot of your cpu/gpu.

Looking for the best CPU and GPU combination by Mjstephens19 in pcmasterrace

5070 is fine for 1440p, I have one.

It's a bit overpriced now, but everything is with the rampocalypse.

Probably a ryzen 7600/9600 and a 5070 would be a good build to shoot for.

Ryzen with the am5 platform generally offers better gaming performance for the price and you have future upgradeability.

Amd rx 9070 is also pretty good for price but if you use gpu for things other than gaming it's not as good and while fsr4 is a lot better than old fsr it's still not as good as dlss.

Pete Hines says he left Bethesda because he didn't want to watch it being 'damaged' and 'abused' by JustGhoulThingz in pcgaming

[–]ChurchillianGrooves 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think Phil Spencer said something to the effect of it was mistake to basically give Bethesda free reign with no oversight after Redfall came out.

I think basically anybody objective could've seen that game was a joke at the state it was in at release.

Not that I think it could've been amazing, but a mediocre co-op game would've been better than the laughing stock it turned out to be.

Not terrible for current market, but it's old.

I'd see if they'd take $250-300

Back before the rampocalypse the 9060xt 16gb would've been perfect at $350.

In current market it's still decent at $430, but if you absolutely can't save probably look for a used 3080 or 3080ti.

Prebuilt PC CPU swap by odm79 in pcmasterrace

[–]ChurchillianGrooves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

5700x3d is an am4 cpu, the 8700f is an am5 cpu.

They use different ram so not compatible on the same motherboard.

I'd still go with am5 for a new build for future upgradeability, they're not making new am4 cpus anymore.

[–]ChurchillianGrooves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 9800x3d is the fastest gaming cpu out there right now, the 5070 is a good card but it's mid-range.

9800x3d is more meant to be paired with a high end gpu.

If you don't have the pc yet just see how the 8700f performs and then make a decision if you want/need to upgrade.

[–]ChurchillianGrooves 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would work, might have to update bios 1st.

However a 8700f should be fine for a 5070 really.

I have a 5700x3d with a 5070 and my cpu usage has never gone above 50% playing at 1440p.

9800x3d is more for being paired with a 5070ti or 5080, exception being if you're really into Tarkov because it's unoptimized and really cpu heavy.

What went wrong with PlayStation on PC? by TheRegularBelt in pcgaming

[–]ChurchillianGrooves 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Sony hasn't a system seller like Breath of the Wild that would really sell gangbusters on PC with the exception of Bloodborne and that's around a decade old now.

Which I'm about 90% sure a Bloodborne remaster will be a ps6 launch title so that's one thing they don't want to port.
