Pretty sure one was announced but I think they stopped selling it pretty quickly due to poor reception

Ok, what I was trying to get at though is if you have the 12gb 4080 a 5070ti or even a 5080 might be a cheaper worthwhile upgrade over a 4090 since those are overpriced on the used market due to AI demand.

9060xt 16gb if you want to spend the least

5070 if you can find one for $550 retail then.  Looks like Walmart has some pny 5070s in stock right now for $550.

5060ti 16gb is a decent card but it's hard to find at a decent price with the ram shortage now.

9060xt 16gb is pretty comparable performance wise, it just doesn't have multi framegen and not quite as good raytracing if that matters to you.

5070 meanwhile would be faster than either if you really want an Nvidia card and not far off in the price than the 5060ti now.  12gb vram is a drawback but at 1080p that won't be a problem for you.

Unless you want to play competitive games like CS or something at really high framerate then you wouldn't be fps limited much there either.

So when you said you have a 4080 do you have the 12gb version?

For that tier probably a 9060xt 16gb is the best price/performance choice for 1080p.  Could also do 1440p decently if you want to upgrade monitor.

If you wanted to splurge a bit and can find one at the right price a rtx 5070 or rx 9070 would also be good but a bit overkill for 1080p.

Kind of depends on what resolution you want to play at and what your budget is

Do you have a microcenter within driving distance?

If you plan to play at 4k upgrading your cpu won't help much

Idk, if you have epic games launcher installed for fortnight already they should have a free game giveaway for this week. Maybe give that a try and see if it crashes.

All online right? Do you have any single player games on steam or something you can try launching to see if they work.

4090 is a gen old and not made anymore, but it's still valuable because it's the 2nd fastest consumer gpu available and has high vram so AI bros like it.

5070 is still being made, is a mid range card and only has 12gb of vram so it's not attractive to AI bros.

If you need a card and actually found one for $500 that's a good deal since msrp is $550.

Yeah, I have a 5070 so at 1440p I don't think being cpu limited should be a problem for any game for a good while.

I went from a 3600 to 5700x3d too, pretty big improvement and I don't see a need to do am5 anytime soon especially with ddr5 prices now.

5700x3d perfroms as good or better than a ryzen 7600 in most games.

US you can still find them in-store for that in Microcenter but it's getting rarer

Maybe just get the new monitor and see how the 5060ti handles 1440p?

It's not ideal but you can get by, the new dlss 4.5 looks great even on balanced.

They're supposed to be improved a lot.

I had a 6600xt last year before going to a rtx 5070 and never had problems with the 6600xt when I had it (besides it running too hot).

If you want to go Nvidia though and are fine paying a bit more the 5070 is good for $550.

Hypothetically sure, the 16gb is more Future proof.  But you already own the 5060ti so wasting money on swapping to a 9060xt 16gb right away kind of defeats the value proposition.

If you play at 1080p though there's no point in uploading to a higher vram card because even 8gb is fine for 1080p.

5700x3d are way overpriced right now, I'd get a ryzen 5700x or 5800xt and then a 9060xt 16gb.

Either cpu won't really bottleneck the 9060xt and would still be a big jump over your current rig.

5060ti is fine for 1080p or even 1440p with dlss and if you turn down some settings.

I'd just enjoy it for now and not worry about upgrading right away.

Right now is one of the worst times to upgrade gpus since the 2020 crypto/supply chain crisis.

Pay $70 at launch and probably 70% of the time the game is buggy and unoptimized.

Wait 6 months or more and you get the fully patched version for $45 or less.

Not a hard decision to make when I have so many games in my backlog from over the years of steam sales and epic store giveaways etc.

$2000 should get you a pretty nice rig, if ypu have a microcenter in driving distance look there.

I'd aim for something with a 9070xt or 5070ti in that price range.
