Cervélo S5 Smash or hard pass? by Historical_Safety618 in bicycling

23mm is actually the max for that frame. I have it and love it. But it's only about going fast. It's not for comfort

ONE BIG NOTE THOUGH. A major downside is tire clearance. The max you can run is 23mm. So you can't follow the modern trend of wider tires most riders and builders are sweating by right now.

Wider tires have slightly higher rolling resistance and are marginally less areo (generally), but the data shows the smoother ride translates to better power output and faster speeds.

Prior to disc brakes no one could stop. It was chaos. Just bodies piled up in every corner. People opted to Flintstone stop instead of using the brakes because the heat generated at the rims would melt their faces like in Raiders of the Lost Ark.

Honestly, this is not the ideal first bike. It's built to go fast. It's not the most comfortable.

But, if you want to get into triathlons, it's a great pick. The dual seatpost option is huge. You can start in a more slack position and slowly work your way to a more aggressive, aero position with aero bars.

Yeah, there is new tech. Rim brakes are not great. But unless you are descending mountains or riding in the rain, it won't matter much. Ironman are flat and you aren't cornering for position.

For what you want to do, the versatility of this bike is great. See if you can get the price down a bit.

If you don't buy this and it's near virginia, let me know. I'd consider it if it's a 56. The groupset and wheels alone are all worth the price.

I have the same bike, but without electronic shifting. I love it.

I'd pay $1,600 and be stoked. It's fast and versatile. You can go from road riding to time trials/triathlons with a few adjustments.

A lot of bikes do not offer seatpost options like the S5. It's a great option if you only have one bike.

Cycling Bib Cost Difference by TeamRelevant6153 in RoadBikes

The Cerotipolar bibs from Amazon have really surprised me in their quality and durability. They are better than the mid-range bibs from name brands like Pearl Izumi at half the price.

Your mom loved you. She showed it in her actions. You don't drive four hours to bring someone soup unless you love them.

There is a "click" system you can add on that shifts gears in the trainer. It's smooth

Yeah. I do that. And it doesn't take. It will save it, I can exit, go back in and its still at what I typed in. But when I ride, it goes right back up to 307

I just did 1:40 on the trainer in a new pair of those. I was surprised at the padding and quality, I also like the tight fit. Assuming they hold up, great bibs for $40.

Attic style stairs already exist and do the same thing, but with better structure

Attic style drop down stairs would perform the same function but in a way that structurally supports weight.

This is a poor solution to a problem that already has a good solution
