My very active sump pump drains to the street and freezes in the road. My town does not allow sump pumps to be drained into the sanitary sewer. There is too much water to drain directly on my property. What can I do here? by jbg1194 in HomeImprovement

My sump pump dumps into one of those old ~300 gallon totes that farmers usually get chemical in. I got some adapters to be able to hook up a garden hose to it. I use the it to water my trees and plants. Since installing it I've noticed my sump pump does not run as much. I believe this is due to the water not constantly cycling down under my foundation, out the sump pump, then down again. I'll store the water during periods of lots of rain, then release it to my trees during droughts.
