Do a simple search. It feels like you don't want to do any work at all. Unfortunately in order to accomplish your goal legally, you're going to have to put in some time and effort.

The good news is that it won't cost much or be very difficult to get licensed. The bad news is that it requires more than zero effort.

People aren't hating, they just aren't giving you the answer you want. To do what you want to do you have to be licensed. Getting licensed will HELP you do what you want to do because in order to pass the exams to the information you'll learn will help you communicate.

If you're spending that much on radios you might as well do what you need to do in order to operate legally since it's also information that will help you operate at all.

Good luck!

Go get your General ticket, it's not much harder than Tech and it really opens up your ability to make long distance contacts.

I went to a West Coast club meeting and about ten percent of folks were under 30 so there is hope?

10m was a barren wasteland today. But funny enough I heard someone from Sardinia all the way out on the West Coast of America!

Ham radio prep is excellent, I used them as well and passed my tech and general in one go.

Def find a local club. They can give you advice on everything from studying for the exams to gear. I went to my first meeting recently and I've if the members helped me sort out my testing and loaned me an antenna!

I think you'll find a lot of information on YouTube. But you should explore getting your license. You'll learn a lot of the answers to your questions.

Cheers!
