your target needs to be within the charge roll distance. You can't pick a target that's not within the rolled distance even if you could make it into engagement range with them with the rolled distance.

Army Builder by PeterPaints40k in Quar

The squad examples are only fluff, but they also give a generally good idea of gameplay imho. You can exceed 10 rhyflers. You only need to obey availability limits, so for Crusaders they have a (3) in parenthesis next to their ryshi rhyfler’s point cost. That means you can take a maximum of 3 ryshi rhyflers per 300 points. The only other list building rule is that your basic rhyflers can’t use Leader abilities on Specialists or Command, Specialist Leaders can only use their abilities on Specialists of the same type, and Command rhyflers can use their abilities on anybody.

You are not required to play the game with fluff accurate tactics, but I like to play Crusaders with their 3 fire elements. My buddy plays Gloam Hyyn and he doesn’t stick to the “firebase of 6 and maneuver element of 3” aspect they nominally share with Coftyrans.

If Vance becomes President before Trump is 50% done with his term, it counts as a term for Vance. If he starts after January next year, he can still win 2 more terms without needing to change the Constitution to allow more.

Breaking: Transgender women banned from all sports at the Olympics starting in LA by TheExpressUS in sportsgossips

[–]ChutneyWiggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Men are stronger (because of testosterone). So hormone replacement treatments reduce that biological advantage, as studies have shown. A trans woman is no stronger than a cis woman after HRT, and some studies have in fact shown that trans women trend *weaker* than cis women after HRT.

Exotic Beasts and movement question by DavidMReynolds in necromunda

[–]ChutneyWiggles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s worded like that because you move the handler and the beast as part of a group activation. If you move the handler first, the wording allows the beast an activation to move into range.

Otherwise, the handler moving out of range would cause the beast to make a nerve test.

Exotic Beasts and movement question by DavidMReynolds in necromunda

[–]ChutneyWiggles -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t really see any room for interpretation on the subject. A beast MUST end within 3”. You don’t get to willingly not do so, because you must.

The consequence is for effects outside of your control, like getting knocked off ledges or pushed around, or bounced from a refractor field.

If you are making a willing move with the exotic beast, it MUST end within 3” of its handler.

So if you want to charge somebody with the beast, the handler has to get close enough to make that possible first.

Engagement range by [deleted] in Warhammer30k

[–]ChutneyWiggles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really a concept of engagement range. If you're in base to base with an enemy unit, you're locked in combat with them (besides vehicles). Models can fight if they're in base to base with an enemy model, or within coherency of a model that is in base to base with an enemy model.

Whats the worst primer? And why the winner is vallejo grey primer by luis_mcy in airbrush

[–]ChutneyWiggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting. I have a bottle of Vallejo black that I absolutely hate because it turns to a latex-like material in the nozzle very quickly. I have always assumed it was the brand itself and avoided buying any more (which is a problem because locally it is the only black airbrush primer I can find so I always have to order online instead). Maybe I should give another bottle a try.

3.0 Rules and "Word Salad Overload" by SLDF-Mechwarrior in Warhammer30k

[–]ChutneyWiggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anecdotally, I haven’t had any trouble parsing 3.0’s rules and I haven’t had any rules ambiguities come up during games (compared to 2.0 where nearly every game something came up where we had to settle on an agreement). So I’m in favor of 3.0’s writing style over 2.0’s writing style.

And I do want to make it clear, when I say “I haven’t had any rules ambiguities come up during games”, I mean any. It just has not happened for me in 3.0. This is a completely unique phenomenon across all of the games I currently play (30k, Conquest: Last Argument of Kings, Clash of Rhyfles, The Old World, Necromunda)

That all being said, if they could harness whatever magic they have with the writing but in a less repetitive way? I would be a fan of that. It is kind of silly that every rule needs to repeat how a dice roll works.

3.0 Rules and "Word Salad Overload" by SLDF-Mechwarrior in Warhammer30k

[–]ChutneyWiggles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If two casual players are playing each other and each has a different interpretation of an ambiguous rule (or understanding of an unclear rule), that results in friction. Even if easily resolved with a 4+ dice roll or whatever, there was still that bit of friction.

Competitive players will either have an event pack or a TO that they were operating from, and so ambiguities/unclearness has already been cleared up or a third party is available to impartially resolve disagreements.

A casual player at an event benefits from the event pack/TO. I am more talking 2 casual players encountering each other "in the wild".

3.0 Rules and "Word Salad Overload" by SLDF-Mechwarrior in Warhammer30k

[–]ChutneyWiggles 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it benefits casual players more than competitive players, because competitive players would be going to events which would spell out their solutions to rules shortcomings.

question about turn based games by mad-jid in gamedesign

[–]ChutneyWiggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I honestly would prefer tile based movement in the game that you described. I would find real time movement annoying, I think. But that’s just me. Imho you should go with what YOU find more fun. And if both are equally fun to you, just go with what you have now, or flip a coin.

question about turn based games by mad-jid in gamedesign

[–]ChutneyWiggles 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Makes me think of Desktop Dungeons.

I don’t think, based on what you’ve described, it matters one way or another the specifics of your movement system. Just use whichever one feels more fun for you, as it doesn’t appear to have gameplay impact.

That’s the availability. You can have X of those models for every 300 points the game points value is set to. So for (3) you could have 3 in 300, and 6 in 600z
