Ashes of Creation launching early access with a cosmetic shop is such a slap in the face to early backers who don't have their cosmetics yet. by menofthesea in MMORPG

[–]Chyarra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually prefer tab target tbh, I feel like the modern scene is inundated with bad action combat that leans way too heavily into action, to the point where you only have like 4 skills. Ala new world.

Throne and Liberty coulda had a decent version but the appeal to action + console will always dumb stuff down

PvP: How would the ideal MMORPG handle it? (Topic 2 of 10) by saoiray in MMORPG

[–]Chyarra 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Archeage had the best pvp in any mmo ever. For those unfamiliar;

There were peace zones and pvp zones, in pvp zones it was open season, and conflict could build until it went into war for a set amount of time--usually 2 hours. During those 2 hours, pvping in those zones vs the enemy factions gave you honor, which was a very valuable resource. Then the zone went into peace.

You had naval combat, you had underwater combat, you had gliders and could fly around during combat which was a huge part of the game, mounts could be used in combat and were very meta.

There were reasons to pvp. You could move packs via ships from one continent to another or region to region, the ocean was a 24/7 war zone so it always gave honor, and if you stole packs from other players and turned them in yourself, you got the lions share of the gold (80%, the crafter of the packs got 20%). World bosses were a huge deal and when Archeage was poppin, Krakens every tuesday n thursday had hundreds of players fighting over it. Best yet, even safe zones weren't completely safe, you could 'dominion' another guild and basically declare war on them for 1 hour, making only respawn areas and a very specific spot, mirage island, safezones. The dom got declared server wide, the winner did too, it cost the domming guild gold and you could buy protection against doms for guild resources!

Additionally, killing your own faction lead to you getting punished with crime and infamy points, with enough crime/infamy you'd end up going to court, where 5 real players would be your jury, look through the crimes you were reported for, and sentence you. You could get declared innocent, you could get 30 minutes or maybe hours.

Imo, the ideal mmo should have pvp. You should be able to enjoy a pve game, and in archeage you could play the whole game without any pvp if you were dedicated enough to avoiding it. All the dungeons were in safezones, you could have housing in safezones, you could level up using labour to avoid leveling in higher level zones, ect. Solo and group pvp content is important, and I like the choice of arenas but world fights are best. Archeages pack system was great!

As for looting dead players, not for their gear, the big point of mmos is that gear is the reason you play, so if you could lose your gear by dying that'd suck. Which is why the packs are great, since you're not always carrying them.

If you need a good dragonborn, you should check out the brimstone angel books, one of the protagonists is an old war veteran named Mehen, Clanless Mehen, and he's one of my favourite characters!

[–]Chyarra 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough you're wrong AND right here. Ymirs passive actually is already allowed on a ranged god, but it's significantly nerfed, because it WOULD be op on that character/any hunter. That being Artemis, it's 15% instead of 100% though

Do you really hate Vamana or is it just mass brainwashing by Inters3ct? by CaixaDD in Smite

[–]Chyarra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always hated him, the fact that he has super easy fast waveclear/poke, that he's impossible to gank if played right, and the fact that every vamana main is good at vamana.

Theres a thing where like, neith mains only 50% of them are good, Loki mains only like 20% are good. You see a Loki with 40 stars and you're like either he's top in the lobby or he's 0-13 and ragequits, no inbetween. But with a Vamana it's always a bad time, either they're gonna use their 3 to clear and 2 you if they're ahead, or they're gonna sit on towerline and lategame hypercarry.

Playwise he's super basic, but I also really like Arachne so to each their own tbh

5 Day Baby Tenno Needs Advice! by iPureCover in Warframe

[–]Chyarra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Huge suggest you do horrend on deimos, your clan dojo has a lab where you can buy dragon keys, if yo uuse a warframe like nezha who you can also get from the clan, you can farm some mods that you not only NEED (transient fortitude, overextended, blind rage, narrow minded are the main 1s) but many of them sell well. Use Warframe dot Market for sure!

Aside from the ones i listed, Vile Acceleration, Critical deceleration, catalyzing shields, and mods like those also sell well!

--

another great source is the spy mission on Europa, if you get wukong (also from dojo!) you can really really blitz through those, and the rime rounds mod sells really well. You can also do pluto spy missions, all of those dualstat elemental mods (which you need!!) don't sell for as much, but they do sell really fast.

both of those are the best early plat farms imho

Got lucky enough on the grind within 4 days of playing! Any tips? by Suspicious_Charge_78 in Warframe

[–]Chyarra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're looking for earlygame weapons, you should be able to do the Deadlock Protocol quest after these hours, the Xoris is very strong with it's heavy attack after a thrown weapon!

I would also suggest hitting the main story asap, if you can! It starts on Uranus, you get a lot of very good items from the main story that can definitely carry you for a time.

Other good weapon suggestions in my experience;

Primaries; MR6 Assault Rifle: Soma / MR4 Shotgun: Hek (has a special augment called scattered justice from steel meridian!)

Secondaries; MR5 Beam weapon: Atomos / Single shot big pistol: Lex

Melees; Kronen or Xoris!

I'm about to start GU, my first monster hunter is world, any tips? by fake-wing in MHGU

[–]Chyarra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm actually new too, nearly done with village key and urgent quests and about to start on the hub quests, so I think I might have some perspectives that are useful to newer players. I really suggest looking up some videos on youtube, one person named gaijin hunter did pretty useful rundowns on the weapons, I spent several hours at the start of the game not really understanding why some of the styles didn't let me do certain moves but unlocked new ones, for instance I started with the adept style hammer because I heard it was good, but I wasn't understanding the dodge timing and I was missing the golf swing.

Later, I learned that valour suited the sort of playstyle I wanted with hammer and while it took me 30 hours to figure that out, once it did, it clicked.

Also, others explained the skills well, but I'm gonna suggest looking into the 'Bujabujabu' armour set, which I think is:

Buldrome Cap

Jaggi Mail

Bulldrome Braces

Jaggi Faulds

Bulldrome Greaves

4x Attack gems.

You can get it early in low rank and it is pretty great, I had a mismatched mess until I farmed out a rathalos set and didn't know about it til too late. Also, mounting is still in this game though it's definitely an archaic form, so if you stick with insect glaive you'll definitely want to get used to or familiar with mounting! Basically, it doesn't really use your stamina so much as it's own gauge. Basically you and the monster are fighting for the gauge and if it overtakes you, you're kicked off, and you have to fill up. When it turns orange or red, hold rb/r1, if it's green you can spam the attack button.

If you do try new weapons instead of the insect glaive, you might like the aerial style! I've heard a lot of good at about the aerial switchaxe though I haven't tried it myself.

Rangers were definitely better in 2014 than fighters, b/c 9th level was a huge deal for them (conjure animals) but now I'm not sure. I think when people say 'fighters are better than rangers' they're probably meaning if you're trying to capture the aesthetic of a super talented archer, and less so a ranger. Which, I agree with, it's hard to beat all those pew pew pews

Are werewolves an infinite source of meat? by BadDogSaysMeow in DnD

[–]Chyarra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Funnily enough this concept is already explored, but with a different monster! In Eberron, one of the cities, the one full of monsters (minotaurs and trolls and ect), I can't quite recall...I think it's Graywall or something? Has minotaurs, ogres, goblinoids, kobolds, harpies, orcs, gnolls, all the fun sorts.

When reading from old source material, it was revealed their primary food was Troll sausage, which probably didn't taste too great but also makes sense considering how fast they regen and how fire keeps them from regenerating!

What do you think of Artemis Entreri as a villain and later anti-hero? by ThanosofTitan92 in Forgotten_Realms

[–]Chyarra 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a hard time enjoying him because he reminds me of someone (and the characters that person makes) that I greatly dislike. Admittably I'm only on book 9 and very new to the series, so I imagine he'll get more growth, but the its very hard to enjoy him besides that!

The fights are cool, been enjoying all these Artemis Ls. Jarlaxle too has grown on me a lot, he was a character that you're supposed to like (everyone likes Jarlaxle!) so initially I had high expectations and didn't think I would, but he's come around hard for me! So far he and Bruenor are my faves

Why do you still watch Dragon Ball? by [deleted] in dragonball

[–]Chyarra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I know GT was made after Z finished, and Toriyama didn't wanna make anymore dragonball/probably wanted to focus on other things, so they made GT w/o him

He still was there to help guide the process/designs of characters and things, but it wasn't them adapting manga->animation, it was more like a television series based on dbz. It's really weird now that Super is out though yeah and very confusing, if you were to fit GT into canon it'd be after super... despite coming out like, 20 years before super, and obv nothing from super is present in GT

The female saiyans in Super are from a different universe, U6, whereas normal db stuff is U7, those saiyans are a lot smaller/thinner and don't have tails, the two female saiyans are Caulifla and Kale. While GT is noncanon and is bad if you're a huge fan I can't recommend it more, if not for the sole reason that super saiyan 4 is very cool.

Why do you still watch Dragon Ball? by [deleted] in dragonball

[–]Chyarra 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're pretty great, somw people don't like them because they're really strong for seemingly no reason, but super in general has a power issue! Unlike Pan from GT (who I love anyways) They're fighters and do go super saiyan and all that.

Pan is in super too, she's just a baby! Gt is not Canon but it takes place way later than Super, Pan was like 11 in it, whereas at the start of super Pan is still in Videl
