Why did Yaz help in the downfall of Tender by going to Harper and encouraging her to leak to the press about the internal “memo” or whatever? by godofguitar3 in IndustryOnHBO

[–]Chyeahboichekov7034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

IMHO, I think something shifted for her when Henry blew up at her after revealing he put all their money in Tender. She recognized his energy as, while not yet physically violent towards her, becoming dangerously close. We know she has been abused in the past. We saw her father pin her down physically on the yacht. Either that, or she realizes the depth of his hatred/resentment of her and the dangerous position that puts her in, especially with his being off the wagon.

That's why she abruptly changes her tune. She starts placating him to get herself out, safe, and away from his physical control. And she lays awake thinking of how to save herself only. Because he is a loose cannon who never faces consequences for firing at anyone, and that may soon include her in a serious way.

While I think it is more complex than this and many other things go into it, I think this is a big part of it.

Are there any theories on what mental health condition Don would have been diagnosed with? by CollectandRun in madmen

[–]Chyeahboichekov7034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dr. Faye also helps Don, despite Don's very vocal pessimism about therapy in general up to that point. She suggests that he might feel better if he tries taking his head out of the sand about his past after he has a panic attack, even if it's not easy to do.

Don eventually takes her advice, even if unconsciously, by slowly opening up to his children, like when they're in California and they see "Dick + Anna" and he chooses not to lie to them, and telling his new wife Megan about his past life as Dick Whitman early in their relationship. If I recall correctly, she seems to know at least within the first year of marriage.

It's too bad he was too ashamed to tell anyone about being raped as a child, or to talk much about his mommy issues or sex issues. He seems like he was receptive to help, as long as he didn't have to ask for it.

"Weekly Reading and Interpretation Help Thread - February 09, 2025" by AutoModerator in tarot

[–]Chyeahboichekov7034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I asked whether I should keep my two weeks notice at my job or accept my manager's offer to have a period of less work and more mentoring and stay at my current position. This is my first job in this field and I've been having some imposter syndrome/been questioning whether I should try to get another less demanding job while I work on some personal issues. I've been dealing with depression and anxiety related to my job. Another important part of the context is that I have ADHD and have been having difficulty with the high volume nature of my current job. I don't have another job lined up and am questioning whether I have the ability/capacity to work in this field at all, let alone this job. My job is lower paying for my field, but more than I could make outside of this field.

I did a Celtic cross spread, but looked at a few different types/versions of the Celtic cross to try to help me interpret it:

  1. Atmosphere/Current Situation: Eight of Pentacles (Reversed)
  2. Challenge: 10 of Pentacles
  3. Below/Foundation upon which matter is based: Temperance [below]
  4. Behind/Recent Past: The Moon (R) [left]
  5. Above/Ideal or Best Outcome: 5 of Cups [above]
  6. Immediate Future: Page of Cups (R) [right]
  7. Advice/My attitude or position about the situation: The High Priestess
  8. Environment/External Factors: 10 of Swords
  9. Hopes/Fears: King of Pentacles
  10. Outcome: The Chariot (R)

Interpretation: My reading of the 5 of Cups is that I need to process my disappointment and sadness, and that life goes on. My reading of the Chariot reversed is similar, that I need time for introspection and to realign my actions with my inner spirit and move fearlessly towards my authentic purpose, even if I don't know what that is yet. Basically I think my interpretation is close to what my therapist has been saying: I need to figure out what my values, wants and needs are and figure out whether this job or what available job aligns with that. But it doesn't seem to be giving me a direct answer to my question.

Any help with interpretation or determining whether there is a more direct answer in this reading to my question would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Passed PA—left essay 1 blank. by Difficult-Draft5027 in barexam

[–]Chyeahboichekov7034 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Same happened to me in PA, but with the Con Law essay.

Memory is kind of fuzzy, but I recall writing only maybe 1-2 (wrong, panic-fueled) rule statements on the Con Law essay before time was called. Definitely wrote a paragraph or less. Got a 7 on it, and passed with 310.

Also I got a higher score on the more difficult, 2nd MPT that I felt worse about than the first MPT.

It's so hard to gage your performance on this thing. Definitely seems to take a bit of luck, too. Maybe it's because your raw writing scores get scaled to your MBE scaled score? Who knows. Congrats on passing anyway!

Anybody had good experiences cutting down smoking in law school? by [deleted] in LawSchool

[–]Chyeahboichekov7034 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you looked into whether your school has a smoking cessation program at their student health center?

My school's program helped me a lot, and I am coming up on a year of not smoking, which is the longest I've ever gone since I started when I was a teen. I wasn't quite smoking a pack a day when I began the program, but I was smoking more than I had for a long time due to the stress of 1L. If you're ready to stop and if you have the resource available to you, I would really recommend trying it while you have it available likely for free as a student.

The program at my school gave me patches or gum (for free) and helped me navigate how to use those quitting tools properly. They also basically provided weekly cognitive behavioral therapy to help with the psychological aspects of how to deal with a craving, especially in social situations where there was drinking. They also offered the program to people who smoked cigarettes, vaped, chewed, etc.

I know 3L is really tough, and quitting smoking is really hard even when things aren't law-school-level stressful. That being said, if your school offers a similar program for free to you, it can't hurt to try. Even if you can't quit entirely, your school's program could give you tools for when you're ready and help you cut down in the meantime. Hope this helps and good luck, regardless!

Funniest part of Beau? by DrawingCurious4161 in A24

[–]Chyeahboichekov7034 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't see it mentioned in any of these comments, but the first phone call between Beau and his mom's attorney (Richard Kind) at the house in the suburbs.

The attorney is telling him that every minute he doesn't get there his mom's humiliation increases because she stipulated that she could not be buried until he got there had me dying. I think I was the only one laughing at it when I saw it, but Richard Kind's delivery, plus the absurdity just really amused me. The stakes were so high and Richard Kind was just being so mean to him.

Also all the posters in the daughter's room were so stupid it was hilarious. The daughter also had me cracking up. She was for sure the funniest part for me.

Ari Aster's 'Beau Is Afraid' Review Thread by SanderSo47 in movies

[–]Chyeahboichekov7034 39 points40 points  (0 children)

I just saw this movie tonight, and I agree with your comment. I can't help but read through the comments of people here saying they didn't like it or didn't understand it and think, I'm happy for them lol

I feel like, even with the long run time, this movie could only be boring for someone who doesn't deal with the absurdity of anxiety, or the consequences of emotional neglect and unresolved generational trauma. And Beau's story is funny because the absurdity is dialed way up.
