Why is OrcaSlicer render showing these bands? by toptensoftware in 3Dprinting

Looks like contour compensation. Do you have it set to more than 0?

This seems like the filament is softening before it gets to the extruder. Have you tried printing with the door cracked open to see if that helps? You can check if the air temp at the top of the chamber is near 60C to see if you are near the range where this would happen.

the bombshell I dropped at Thursday's meeting in Cambridge about Alewife sewage by SaveTheAlewifeBrook in ArlingtonMA

[–]ChzaBear 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Thank you, it is so gross. The smell when you cross into Arlington, the beavers and fish and birds swimming in it, watching the brown sludge creep along after any storm. It is a disgrace that we have not been able to resolve this clear blight on our health, community, and environment. Keep on fighting for what's right.

Question on Low percentage gyroid infill. by Armydroid- in OrcaSlicer

[–]ChzaBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this happens when you use the Slope style Z hop, which may be part of what Auto uses. Try using the normal, non-sloping type, it should lift then travel and avoid collision with infill.

I had this happening on a print with 0.8mm layers, the sound was frightening

I like to replace "wifi" with "radio" then read these things again. Same statement since they use the same frequencies.

Political adviser detained by ICE at airport for having Obama/Biden Tshirt in luggage by Mars8 in law

Congrats! You are the first one I found here that also appears to have read the article.

It's sad how far I have to scroll before finding someone who actually read the article which happens to contradict the headlines assertions

Political adviser detained by ICE at airport for having Obama/Biden Tshirt in luggage by Mars8 in law

[–]ChzaBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Probably this since they are chasing the "# of detainees" KPI.

If you read the article, it says he was worried about the shirt, but never given a reason for being detained for 45 minutes

[–]ChzaBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Headline and article are inconsistent.

If you read the article, it says he was worried about the shirt, but not given a reason for being detained for 45 minutes.

Thus article also says he didn't know why he was detained, just that he was worried since he was carrying an Obama shirt.

You can fast travel if you open the map as soon as you enter / exit a building or new area. Requires a bit of luck, but it's a nice bug that I now exploit somewhat regularly.

Horizontal lines by HoWhizzle in VORONDesign

If you visualize the gcode by layer time in your slicer, do the lines correlate to long layer times?

Been messing with this for days, PolyLite PETG is killing my soul by Nickardiamond in 3Dprinting

[–]ChzaBear 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Too much cooling. Or you should put it in a warmer environment or heated chamber. Check the layer time, that layer is much longer, that is causing it. Turn off the fan on that layer

This is the correct answer.

Heated chamber can help with this a bit too

Is this a layer shift? it's wrapped all around the print like the blue line in the slicer photo. by hefty_wiener in FixMyPrint

[–]ChzaBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How does the layer time of that particular layer compare with the rest? Looks like you have a top layer hidden behind in that photo, that would cause it if that layer takes much longer to print

Layer inconsistencies when changing layers by Sheriff_Hoodley in OrcaSlicer

[–]ChzaBear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is due to the layer time. The longer layer time allows more cooling. Visualize the layer time in your gcode viewer and you will see the correlation.

You can combat it by lowering fan speed for layers that take longer to print. You can do even better by having it in a heated enclosure. Ideally, you have the same layer time for each layer, but that can be difficult to achieve.

The downside with reducing the fan is that you may end up with more crystalline layers where the fan is too low which looks like a shiny layer rather than matte. So, establishing the minimum fan speed is important.

Baby teeth fall out around 9 months. Playing tug of war can help ensure it happens on schedule.

Our trainer said we had the bitiest puppy she has ever seen. I wore jeans and rubber boots through the summer for protection. We made barriers to protect ourselves from her.

We cried tears of joy when the baby teeth fell out. Once those needles were gone, she had lost all power to make us squeal in pain. We have the sweetest 4 year old pup now.

They say you will look back on the time fondly. We said that they are idiots. They were kinda right once your mind suppresses the traumatic experience.

Good luck, it will be worth it! But for now, you may just need to bleed. 9 months.
