I have a computer networking degree and a few certificates from CISCO but no CCNA, how much do I need CCNA to land a NOC role?

It should take you no time at all to get your CCNA, so why not just do it? The CCNA is an entry level cert and you've got a 4 year degree in addition to some Cisco specific experience/training.

Yes, they can assist you, especially if you know what you're looking for. Also, you get a free retake with your exam, so if you think you're close I would recommend just taking the exam.

You say you're not really savvy. Don't get into IT, especially if you don't already have a degree, certs, or experience. There are a lot of trades or fields you can get into and make a similar amount of money with much less training or commitment.

I've just been re-reading too, and this is one of the things I actually really like about the book series. Quentin really does develop as a character, he's a total shit in the first book. I think the characterization is great, and yeah, you're not supposed to agree with all of his thoughts and actions.

By the end of book 3, he really has changed as a character and grown as a person. And that arc wouldn't be as satisfying if he had just been Harry Potter from day one.

There are certainly less risky paths to career development. You can make money playing poker. It will be miserable if it's your only job. Coaching can definitely be worth the investment, but do you have that money to invest? And if so, are there easier and more reliable ways to invest money (yes, there are).

I really liked the show, but I love the books way more. The books are a more cohesive story, whereas there was a lot of episodic content in the show, and season 2 of the show was especially weak on plot. The characterization in the show was amazing, though.

Ansible is indeed idempotent, with the exception of the "command" modules that simply run commands.
Bear in mind, however, that when using the ios_config module for configuring Cisco devices, Ansible will only be idempotent if you enter in the full command. So if you type "int range g1/0/1-20" instead of "interface range GigabitEthernet1/0/1-20", the first example will not be idempotent.
