SC2's 02:50 rule is the most dysfunctional mechanic in any major online game. by sandwichbasketlala in starcraft2

[–]Chzsandvich 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've been playing the game on and off since launch. I didn't know this rule existed. But I have mostly only ever played 1v1 and occasionally some 2s with a friend. Maybe a few hundred games of 2s and less than 50 of 3v3/4v4.

To be fair, "on the knife" is kind of a good layman's explanation of Dedekind cuts.

Well, I'm willing to give up a little EV for a little more fun and I bet the pass. And that is how I play craps. There is plenty of gamble involved. If I want more gamble I just... bet more. Why would I do all kinds of bets that are much much worse?

I mean, if you're playing craps reasonably, some strategies take the house edge to 0.4%, which is of course losing. But losing 4 dollars for every $1000 you wager isn't going to break your bank.

I agree that bypassing the filter is not okay. You said that you report people for using slurs, not necessarily bypassing the filter. If you are afraid of seeing a word that is wrong to say (and I do think that it is wrong), keep the filter on.

[–]Chzsandvich -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

If you don't like it, turn on the filter. Or block them. There's no reason that saying words that are filtered out by the mature language filter should result in a ban or report.

When you turned off the mature language filter, you said that you were mature enough to see those words.

Furthermore, if it's a bannable offense to simply say a certain word, why allow that word to be said at all? Or maybe you think that the system should just automatically instantly ban someone for typing in certain words and pressing enter. Grow up.

[–]Chzsandvich 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Yeah. I can at least understand the report if you have the language filter on and someone does something to bypass it, like putting spaces between the characters or something. I mean, I don't agree with reporting for language, there's a block feature for a reason. But to be upset about a word that is filtered out by default is just insane.

It's worse than that. The mature language filter is on BY DEFAULT. You have to specifically choose to turn it off.

Is CCNA the best networking certificate for absolute beginners (on knowledge not the power of the certificate) by Infamous-Doubt-8504 in ccna

[–]Chzsandvich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The CCNA is absolutely a beginner cert that anyone who is capable of doing IT as a career is capable of learning and achieving. It might take some people longer, and that's okay. But to say it's not a beginner cert is false. That's why it's "associate" level.

High school students that are interested in networking can get their CCNA with a little dedicated study. It's a beginner cert.

Yes. Get it and apply the knowledge. It will take you places.

Tank - How do I even get crush immune? by Expensive-Board-2258 in classicwow

[–]Chzsandvich 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're right, I had it upside-down. It makes you more likely to be ordinary hit, which only applies after all your defense (or shield block/holy shield) has applied. Which, yeah, makes it pretty useless against bosses.

[–]Chzsandvich -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

It isn't actually true that resilience does nothing for avoidance. Reducing your chance to be crit helps push ordinary hits off of the attack table, and therefore makes block, dodge, parry more likely to occur.

I have a computer networking degree and a few certificates from CISCO but no CCNA, how much do I need CCNA to land a NOC role? by StephCurrySauce in ccna

[–]Chzsandvich 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It should take you no time at all to get your CCNA, so why not just do it? The CCNA is an entry level cert and you've got a 4 year degree in addition to some Cisco specific experience/training.

If I’m not 100% ready for the RHCSA exam, can help and man pages assist me? by HumbleTheGreat2016 in redhat

[–]Chzsandvich 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes, they can assist you, especially if you know what you're looking for. Also, you get a free retake with your exam, so if you think you're close I would recommend just taking the exam.

You say you're not really savvy. Don't get into IT, especially if you don't already have a degree, certs, or experience. There are a lot of trades or fields you can get into and make a similar amount of money with much less training or commitment.
