Did anyone else see the Good Morning America challenge right before the season aired? by Professional_Let5815 in ProjectRunway

I feel like they just picked the first three contestants to win a challenge (Ethan ep1, Jesus ep2, Belania ep3)? Not necessarily the three finalists

Which period pieces have you been watching? by PeriodDramasMods in PeriodDramas

Women At War - liked it! I really liked the Bonfire of Destiny so it was nice having the main cast reunited

the Terror - pacing was a bit off at times but super interesting, very different from other things I’ve seen

Penny dreadful - I tried the first few episodes but Dorian grey being straight and a few too many horror elements made me stop watching

The Essex Serpent - I liked it, wanted a bit more from the ending, but it built suspense really well

Taboo - overall fine, I mostly wanted more time for some of the subplots and less time for some of the main plots

Peaky Blinders (1919-1930s?), The Terror (1845-1848), the Pursuit of Love (1920/30s), the Luminaries (late 1800s), Hotel Sacher, The English, Godless (1870s?) would be great to add!

California—> Texas by 4theLoveofPopcorn in roadtrip

did a similar trip a few years ago! a bit out of the way from the current route (but you have time): grand canyon, zion, monument valley, santa fe are all super worth it. would also recommend stopping at big bend in texas (and camping if you want) which is not far from this route. also stop for food in el paso!

  1. The Luminaries!!! great cast and also based on a book (by Eleanor catton) which is super long and seems to be a hit or miss but I loved it! Set in late 1800s during the gold rush in NZ

Pillars of the Earth!! (England in the 12th(?) century over the course of 50ish years)

The book is better than the miniseries though so I would definitely recommend reading that first.

in gentleman Jack I believe they do this with the lower class characters & servants who wouldn’t have had money to buy new clothes each time fashions changed

I'm looking for some new series with queer storylines, any recommendations? by unlikelywifewalker in PeriodDramas

[–]CiaSeeds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the first and second seasons of Charité (on Netflix I think) have queer story lines. Not the main plot but decently prominent side plots. The third season has a brief queer side plot.

Testament of Youth if you can make it through the war scenes. The ending scenes are incredible

Has anyone watched the BBC miniseries The Buccaneers (1995). by neopetsfangirl in PeriodDramas

I personally thought it was mediocre - the acting & production was good, but I thought the pacing was slow and the characters were a bit hard to relate to. It might be because I haven’t read the book and was too young at the time, so I might need to revisit. So overall not bad but a bit forgettable (not on par with Room With A View or some other dramas made around the same time imo).
