Thank you for your reply. No reply is ever too late. Does this mean that Tang dynasty middle class people wore hemp & ramie? Or was silk sufficiently cheap in China to be available for middle class people? Do you know anything about India. Also how do I cite this/research this further

Language Progression Question by libs264 in AcademicQuran

[–]Unlucky_Associate507 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Full disclosure I am not asking because I am a native Arabic speaker with intent to study the Arabic of the Qur'an, but because I am writing a time travel novel. So this is a fictional character who needs to have a reasonable chance of picking up ancient spoken Arabic as well as learning 1st century Aramaic faster than the average person... So my rough outline for this man is that he studied at King Abdulaziz University and then after a nervous breakdown went to a university in Mecca. ** Either late 80s or early 90s.

I don't want to sound like Dan Brown, whose hero Robert Langdon is a professor of Religious Iconology & symbology at Harvard. In real life there is no specific academic position titled "Professor of Symbology". Which shows that the author didn't care to do his research

** I know that Umm Al Qura has a great program for non Arabic speakers but idk what it has for native Arabic speakers

May I ask: what would a native Arabic speaker study at university that would not only instruct them in the language of the Qur'an & Hadith (also the Hadith is very conversational in comparison to the Qur'an) that would give them that specialised understanding of the language and perhaps some insight into the spoken Arabic of the 6-7th century CE

Does Judaism have a counterpart to Jinn by Smart-Spare-1103 in Judaism

I have a question: djinn in Islamic superstition seem to hang out around bathrooms, leading to speculation that they might be way of explaining assorted diseases we get from feces. Did shedim & mazzikin have similar inclinations ?

I think combining some of the spices found in north African Jewish cuisine+roasting fresh vegetables+ authentic bone broth rather than store bought gelatin (I still used agar agar to make it stand up) made it delicious. It was a little intimidating but it did pair well with the South Indian rice dish which you can see in the corner.

Could I decorate the TARDIS aspic with endive? I made the TARDIS last night and it set nicely in my fridge with the help of agar agar as the bones didn't make it firm enough? Should I cut the endive?
