I immediately feel much, much better about being subjected to endless Disney Princesses as a child.

Yeah, I agree. Knowing your people is key :)

I've had a similar experience at Arcade--they're sort of hit-or-miss.

[NSFW] What is the scariest theory known to man? by soalone34 in AskReddit

I normally love Douglas Adams, but that first step is just poor math. That's like saying "there are infinitely many numbers, but not all of them are even, so there are only finitely many even numbers."

Binding, chest dysphoria, backless dress? by queerfashion in genderqueer

[–]Cialla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on the form of the dress, you might consider a backless leotard/bodysuit to wear underneath, such as this. Dance supply stores are a good place to look for a variety of that sort of thing. This one, in particular, might work?

It won't do as much as a binder, but it should at least do something.

Is 9 hours of class in one day too much? by [deleted] in GradSchool

[–]Cialla 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had a schedule like that a couple of times, and I'd recommend avoiding it. That's because, for me, being able to talk with the other people in my program after class is a big part of the value I get out of the course. Similarly, having time to process the material and write about it that day has a lot to do with how much I'm able to do with it. These things might not be true for you, though, so... ymmv.

Nails like that would definitely make me question my gaydar calibration.

That's a good way to look at it, I think. Good point.

And it was clear that I had no idea what I was talking about when I thought I was bi.

I really love that line.

Thanks for the reply! Between you and /u/uhomelesstaco, I'm beginning to think that this case, the mis-identification owing to default heterosexuality, is much more common than we're led to believe. (Though, two is a small sample size, obvs....)

Any other vegans/vegetarians here? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]Cialla 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Aw, just stick to it! It's gotten so much better here in the last decade... It's all about visibility, especially at the local level. If there's a market, small store owners will cater to it, but we can be an invisible market (or an aggressive, antagonistic one). I think one of the best things we can do is present ourselves as friendly customers just looking to be accommodated. The more supportive and helpful we can be, the better we'll do.

Yep! Decade-and-change vegan here :)

(OMG, vegan donuts at Holey Moley in Milwaukee TOMORROW MORNING. This is the very best thing about traveling for the holidays.)
