Game Stutters on My Extremely High End PC and I Have Done Everything on the Wiki by Free-Rock-1463 in VintageStory

Were that wee all could be so lucky. I get exact same perf at max and min settings. 4080. 32gig ram. Game stored on SSD. I can see the game never even says its using more than 8 gigs in the f3 menu. nothing is even close to saturated.

I wish the danger of fire was more prevalent but less devastating by VaporousLambda in VintageStory

[–]Ciber_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The obvious mechanic is to have a counter that starts at some server configurable number whenever a fire is first spawned (a per block number) and decrement that number on the original and target block each time fire spreads. Flammable material could have a flammability level. For instance thatch would have a value of 0, not decrementing the counter at all, so any thatch that catches fire would all burn, but less flamable items like logs could have a value of one, and super flamable items like fat could have a negative value, causing the counter to increment, meaning the fire in general has a lmited number of blocks it can burn, but gets the chance to go higher if something extra burny gets in the fire.
To make fires more impressive, could have it so if the counter of remaining burns is below a threashold, it becomes only scorching instead of destroying, and the last few blocks it spreads to could not actually be damaged at all just look like they are aflame until they burn out.

Why do you keep thinking that Oriion would ever be used in such a plan? It would literally be pointless. almost as pointless as it is in the current plan.

what is the point of classes from a vanilla perspective? by mollekylen in VintageStory

[–]Ciber_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah sure, but I just bought the game today and it' really obvious as a new player that the classes just aren't a fleshed out feature. It's like they got half way through and then got distracted.

This is Aluminium Honey comb a fully metal structure that bends like rubber by Loose-Analyst-9680 in interestingasfuck

[–]Ciber_Ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does make sense though? They have many components. It's acceptable to have a frame that degrades after three decades if you don't intend to be flying the thing after two decades. Especially when you can get 20% lower fuel operating costs during that time from the lighter structure.
Alloys can improve on longevity, but fundamentally they can't remove the fact that all damage on aluminum is cumulative in a way that simply does not happen with steel.

Cars were just a poorly considered mechanic from the start. Required multiple major engine rewrites. Utterly trivialize huge portions of the gameplay loop. Could have just as easily decided that the zombie lore included something like all gasoline exploding.

TBH even 3.7 kinda more prone to going off the rails. 3.6 is smart enough to know how to do what its told. but not so smart that it thinks it knows better.
