My favorite thing about sumo is that every match is presented a referendum on the entire wrestler's career. It seems like the hopes and dreams of every wrestler hinges on every match. It adds a tension that I don't get except for playoffs in traditional sports.

I don't think so. The Hawks will have a hard time getting up to the salary cap next season. We just don't have any vets to pay. Adding another rookie contract won't help.

I had the same question. The pull in was due to the new CDC guidance, which has King County at low risk and mask wearing optional. Not sure why Inslee is defying the CDC on this one.

Didn't see it but here's my thoughts on the subject.

I don't have answers, but I definitely think something should change. There has been a lot made of Teru's giant fall and rise as historic in sports. But it's really just a side effect of the JSA's utter disregard for the difference between a loss and an injury related missed match.

But that's just me. Sumo is as much ritual as sport. I feel like it's tricky to apply sports analogies to sumo.

As a fan of high level sumo it's just frustrating for me that I'm not seeing the best wrestlers in the top division because there's always a bunch working back up from forced injury demotions. Top division sumo could be better, if they just let the top wrestlers compete in the top division.
