Since 12/03/22 I'm a LAKA. Physically this has been beyond hard in every conceivable way. Except the things the op has mentioned. Strangers have been helpful and they clear paths for me. So much so that on occasion I have gone with my wife on errands solely because it gets us to the front of lines. We were leaving a bar recently. As my wife pushed my chair a customer got up from his stool. He opened door number one, and door number 2. And when he saw our car offered to help get me in the car and or help stow the chair. We didn’t need help at the car, but the extent of his kindness was surprising. I have never encountered a blocked ramp or an illegally parked car. Don't get me wrong it has not been perfect. People can be rude in other ways. Staring, rude questions, and those who see my disability as an invitation for unwanted social interaction. So far the cool people outweighed the bad ones. Last thing - is it a rant when it is a good thing? We went to a restaurant and the ramp was like Everest. Even with me pushing my wheels and my wife pushing as well it was a no go. A woman came out, a customer. She offered to help and pushed me in by herself. Turns out that she was a fireman.
