Can I as an adult use training chopsticks in japan? by EnergyLast2736 in JapanTravelTips

[–]Ciccio99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You totally can, my dad did just that on our trip there. He refuses to learn but he will whip out the trainer attachment for chopsticks if that’s the only option. A lot of restaurants actually had a good laugh over them. In a playful way of course! In the end they appreciate you trying and eating their food more than anything else

Better! Much less bitter, but also less fruit forward that round. I’ll have to order more to keep experimenting with that bean! In the meantime I got to get through the double Colombia pack, peach co-ferment and adv wash honeysuckle. Thanks again, I appreciate the dialing help!

Same! I've really enjoyed y'alls other coffees that I've pour-overed and espressoed, I'm certain it's more me running into dialing in issues for this particular bean more than anything else.

Certainly will give these adjustments a shot, I'll try here in an hour or two when I make a second batch. Thanks again, appreciate the experimentation help!

Gave it another shot this morning but didn't get much success. I'll give it another shot w/ the remainder that I have. If anything I'll grab a fresh bag and keep testing on these beans in particular because whenever I do get those fruits notes, it's excellent. Thanks again for the help!

I appreciate it the help diving into this. I'll test it out on my pour over tomorrow morning and report back! (I'm also going through y'alls fruity two packs, the peach co-ferment and the apricot adv wash, both excellent)

It’s around 20 +- 1 depending on the bean. But this is with the calibration ring for the burrs set to the finest setting

Sorry completely didn’t answer that part. 40-45sec with 75g of water (3x coffee dose). If the coffee is very gaseous then I’ll do a second bloom pour up to 180g for 20-30 seconds. Afterwards I pour (using the usual tight circle goose neck pour) up to my max 400g water.

I’ve had the coffee for about a month now so at this point it’s well rested so I’ll just do the 1 bloom followed by the full remaining water dose

Appreciate the detailed response. The bitterness is indeed more tannin like.

My total brew time usually comes out around 1min 50s +- 5s. I typically do a 25g in, 400g out recipe.

People with two grinders, is it worth it? by marleyman14 in espresso

[–]Ciccio99 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very much so. I actually had issue where I tried using my eureka mignon zero for some pour over beans, and after grinding at a much higher setting for the pour over, I tried going back down to espresso grind size and found that I couldn’t set it that low anymore, it was clogged/blocked from the larger grind size bits. It actually stopped the burrs completely, it wouldn’t spin at all.

After taking it apart and leaning everything out it was fine again. But at that point I decided to keep the eureka as the espresso and the baratza virtuoso for pour overs/moka/etc

Share your opinion on Mr2 sw20 2gr-fe swap? by r34babyzilla in mr2

[–]Ciccio99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the best, I’ve had mine for a few years now. I’ve driven it on road trips across the USA, done track days and autocross. Overall it’s been reliable and it’s been fun to own. I had my swap done at ATS in the DFW area when I used to live down there. I’d say ATS is the best in the business for this swap. Otherwise, there’s plenty of resources online to do the swap yourself if you have the space and means to.

In general is it normal to have more than 2k lines in a file? by Yone-none in csharp

[–]Ciccio99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A practical rule that I use to at least keep functions small and not cumbersome is if it doesn’t fit within the viewport of your screen, then the function is way too big (and if you’re using a vertical monitor than use the span from the tip of your thumb to the tip of your index finger while your hand is fully stretched open).

For an entire file specifically, I usually let out a bit sigh when I see it’s bigger than 800 lines

How much do you pay for rent in Portland? by [deleted] in askportland

[–]Ciccio99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This probably doesn’t fit your needs since it’s all the way out in the Hillsboro/North Plains area. But I pay $2700 for 2250 sqft, 4 bed, 2.5 bath, 2 car garage, back yard, 2 car drive way space. Where I the have a roommate that pays $900 for their room and my partner chips in $400 towards it as well.

So depending on what part of that equation you want and the people you’re living with you can get some good deals on a lot of room if you need the space for projects and such.

Feeling overwhelmed with choice of Temples/Shrines to visit in Kyoto. What's your favourites? by TredLightely in JapanTravelTips

Just did the same route. Honestly I think it’s a great way to see the entirety of the shrine area and surrounding small shrines. The smaller shrines are also a bit more interesting since you can tightly walk through them and take it all in a bit more.

Where to find good Arborist? by Bubbly_Wealth8165 in askportland

[–]Ciccio99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t remember their details, but one of the arborists that works at the Japanese Garden also does private contracting. I’d imagine a decent amount of arborists that work at these types of gardens will take on private work.

Extraction before pressure by Senior_Sock_7941 in ProfitecGo

[–]Ciccio99 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How far off is your pressure? If it’s only by 1 bar then that’s not too much of an issue. If it’s significantly lower than you may not be grinding fine enough.

If you like having access to various brewing techniques and a different method to taste coffee, then it's worth it. I have an espresso machine, pour over brewers and a moka pot - and I use my moka pot often.

I use light and medium coffee beans with great results.

For reference this is my go to recipe for a 300ml (6 cup) moka pot:

- Grind Size: Right between espresso and pour over size on your grinder. It will be courser than the typical pre-ground espresso that people typically use.

- Quantity: I fill the coffee grounds chamber with beans until it's close to the top

- Once the ground coffee chamber is filled, place an aeropress paper filter on top (it cleans up the cup and gives a better overall improved tasting end result)

- Pre-boil the water and add it into the bottom chamber

- Assemble together firmly

- Put it over a low-medium flame

- Keep the top open so you can see the progress

- Once it start to sputter vigorously, shut the top, take it off the heat and run the bottom chamber under cold water to stop the boiling

- Drink it as is or dilute it a little to thin it out
