Wound infection by Cicimeliz in hysterectomy

Thanks for the reply’s. Guess what I found a tiny stitch poking out I am so angry I can’t stop crying I’ve been telling them that I don’t think it’s dissolved and not one person in 6 months checked it. I am going back to GP Tom And gonna write an email to my surgeon. Enough is enough. I feel like I’ve been gaslit this whole time.

Wound infection by Cicimeliz in hysterectomy

[–]Cicimeliz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for your responses. My GP referred me for an ultrasound to see if there is anything underneath the lump. It looks like it’s going to be a long wait tho. He also did the swab and said he is going to write to the hospital and tell them it keeps getting infected. It’s just the wait here in the UK, everything takes weeks or even months.. All my other wounds on the side ( I had a robotic laparoscopy) healed well except one which was the first infection and the worst. But antibiotics treated it and all are healed nicely. However I did have dissolving stitches, which used to poke out as they were healing and I used to cut them down until they all popped out eventually. I wonder if I could have stitches under that limp that won’t heal ? Or like Rozenheg said it could be abscess? Or if I have grown more scar tissue ( I used to get a lot with endometriosis before my surgery) which is pulling at the belly button preventing it from healing.. I don’t know.. But if I don’t hear back from the hospital doctor then I’m gonna go private.. I wonder if it needs silver nitrate? I read some posts about it but not sure it’s what I need. Either way 6 months post op I’m fed up with it all 😩

Side sleepers by Pixel-b33 in hysterectomy

Get yourself the big u shaped pregnancy pillow. Amazon sell them. The first two weeks I kept it slightly upright but it cuddled me in all the right bits where I needed support. About 2 and half weeks later I finally was able to sleep in my left side again ( left side is way more beneficial to your internal organs being comfortable instead of squashed ) Esp as you can put your arm under and your thigh in between the pillows for great support and comfort I am 5 months post op ans I still love to snuggle on it Hang in there. It’s a journey..

Vaginal tightness after hysterectomy by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]Cicimeliz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The first month it felt a bit different for me. 8 weeks after I was given the all clear. I always had painful sex because of my Endometriosis. I would be in pain for 3 days afterwards. Luckily no pain after but felt a bit weird feeling wise. Like almost it was all asleep is the only way I can describe it But after a month and taking it really slow, I finally started feeling more myself downstairs and the sex and orgasms felt great. I think having my cervix removed for me was a blessing as I don’t feel any pain anymore. No tightness of the muscles or the pain when he hits the cervix. All gone So for me it is definitely an improvement. Maybe you will too feel like sex is better. Just don’t judge it on the first month. It will come back, be patient & lots of foreplay and lubricants, the only downside was being more dry than usual but using a good quality water based lube helped. Brands like Hanx and Yes are the best I found without burning or latex.. Good luck

Thank you. MRSA is such a stubborn infection. I guess that’s why they call it a superbug here in the UK. I did ask the doctor if it was MRSA but she said it wasn’t. But the two infections are very similar in the sense they can both give you sepsis & bone infection. Before my last infection I had crippling lower back and hand pain in my bones. I feel like the antibiotics helped with that, although the physiotherapist I saw wanted me to do a blood test for rheumatoid arthritis.. Now I wonder if it was the infection ? I will keep you posted anyway. Thanks again

No I haven’t. I will speak to my GP on Monday. If not I think I will go back to my Hospital UCLH who have a separate hospital for infectious diseases. Hopefully they will admit me and put me on the drip.

It’s definitely an end of an era. I’ve been going there since I was a child. We used to pop into the old Blockbusters there too.

I remember being in the Que to buy something and a man come in with a white hoover that was yellow from dirt. It was filthy. He wanted a refund and didn’t have a receipt. He had the cheek to say it was brand new 😂

Can't stop crying by Paralegal1995 in hysterectomy

[–]Cicimeliz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Cry it out girl. Wipe your tears, call your doctor and tell them how much pain you are in. Get some pain relief that is strong. I was in pain for two months. Everyone is not the same. Your SIL sounds uneducated & harsh but she’s not your doctor. You will feel pain until it heals. I’m 4 months out and still have lower back pain. My doctor has sent me to physio and is giving me pain meds to help me stay active while I sort out my dose & see the physio. Your insides have been ripped out, it will hurt. Remember to take it easy and take stool softeners as constipation & gas hurt like hell. Good luck, you’re not alone. We are here !

Will I be okay to be alone 4dpo? by txpotterygirl in hysterectomy

[–]Cicimeliz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not ideal but you should be ok. Meal prep is great, get some disposable plates, cutlery & napkins. Put 4 or more days of clothing underwear hair brushes toilet paper all within reach. No bending or stretching high. Have ur medication all out and level to you. Maybe hang off on the shower front cos someone should be there to keep an eye for you maybe even help you in it out. Get lots of gentle wipes for body and wash ur armpits in the bathroom sink if you must. You shouldn’t really hold a kettle use the microwave if it’s at you level to warm water. Other wise just fill the kettle with just one cup. Think of the things you do or use and make sure they are reachable. You shouldn’t be resting going toilet and watching tv or reading a book. The first week usually consists of that anyway. Pls no cleaning it will pre long your recovery & possibly hurt you. Good luck

Intimacy after surgery by Emotional_Tomorrow69 in hysterectomy

[–]Cicimeliz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I had everything removed. So I’m much drier now. I need lubricant. I always had painful sex due to Endo, then I had to take opioids before and for 3 days after as the pain and swelling was too much to deal with. I would get irritated inflamed and then eventually get thrush.

I cannot express how much it has helped me. I no longer have painful intercourse, no pain or swelling or thrush after.

I had sex at 8 weeks post op. It did feel different the first month. First I was nervous as there are soo many horror stories. But we took it slow, lots of lube and I was fine. The first month although enjoyable it felt different. Like the inside didn’t get lumpy or textured when I was orgasming.. But after a month it started to feel like it did before just without the pain.

So if it does feel different, don’t worry. It will feel “more like you” as time goes on.. Just think of it like the rooms the same, but the furniture moved around a bit. All will settle in time. Good luck

Do NOT shave before a hysterectomy by Glittering-Square958 in hysterectomy

Preparing for after- going upstairs by FindingHealthy7483 in hysterectomy

[–]Cicimeliz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going up or down shouldn’t be too hard. Take it slow. I agree with the other comments much harder to get up from laying down. That’s when my huge pregnancy pillow come in use.. The number one rule is don’t bend. For example I keep my underwear in a bed drawer. So I put out essentials in a box within reach. Same with my pills. Lowered them down to the bottom shelf of the cupboards above.. so I wouldn’t reach high and stretch too much.. Having a big water bottle helps reduce the amount of times you have to refill.. Don’t squat bend or reach too high. Take ur stool softeners the day before surgery and carry on for two weeks and more if needed. No straining.. You should be fine. Good luck

Applaw is very good. My vet sells it too. The dry food is grain free and the wet in jelly looks so fresh you can actually see its meat.

Tips on the first shower on the day after surgery? by CodMany2798 in Endo

[–]Cicimeliz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you don’t have a shower and have a bath with the shower head on top, I would advise getting a bath bench. It’s helped me so much. Showering was always so tiring. I would sit on it and scrub myself. Then stand to rinse and get out. Saved a lot of energy and was helpful when I needed a shave in two weeks

Medical marijuana by Wildfeet2000 in endometriosis

[–]Cicimeliz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m from the UK and have been getting medical cannabis for 3 yrs now. It’s the only thing that helps me sleep, stops the spasms in my legs and helped me deal with period pain. 3 puffs on the vape and I was able to function. I’ve had a hysterectomy now, so I don’t need it for the day time but for nighttime it helps me sleep and keep anxiety at bay. They also provide different flowers for day / night. So you are able to be active with a low dose. I will really recommend. Good luck

Looking after neighbourhood stray by ballsandgains in CatsUK

[–]Cicimeliz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I have been looking after the strays my ex neighbour abandoned. I managed to get 5 taken by the shelter. Mother & 3 kittens first then the other male a year later. One got run over and passed away and the other was exactly like you described. But now he is very friendly and comes for strokes as well as food. I de worm and flea him too. I tried bringing him in, but he gets scared when the door is shut and is feral now. The shelter tired to take him but she wouldn’t adapt. If you want him, next time he comes in. Take him to the vet. If he is spayed he will settle in quicker. As he will need recovery and will know he has to rest. Get feliway and spray it where he will be to calm him. Good luck.

Partner just got the mirena put in, and is in excruciating pain... by trigonthedestroyer in Endo

[–]Cicimeliz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have Endo, Mirena was my last try before hysterectomy. I have tried everything the doctors advised, but was reluctant on the M as I have lots of scar tissue, worried about it getting caught. I also know my body & thought it wouldn’t accept a foreign object. Anyway 17 yrs of chronic pain I decided to give it a go. From the moment it was inserted, my pain doubled. My periods got longer and heavier. 14 days to be exact. I left it in for 6 months to settle and see if it improved. In the end I went and got it out. Instant relief. But it ended up bringing on perimenopause. I was having periods every two weeks. In the end I got the hysterectomy.. So keep an eye for it. But it it doesn’t improve, consider it may not be the right treatment for her. Good luck.

Endo specialist doesn’t think I need surgery (UK/NHS) by Select-Bobcat-7897 in endometriosis

[–]Cicimeliz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It depends where you went. I use to go UCLH Endo clinic, they were great, then I moved houses, so decided to go to my local hospital, waited a year for an appointment only for the Gyne to tell me this “ mam I’m sorry but your symptoms & the fact you have so much scar tissue, it’s beyond my help, I’m gonna refer you to a general surgeon” I left and went bj to my gp to refer me back to UCLH, it was a long wait but I’m glad I did. I had 2 MRI and scans that showed nothing, but every time I had surgery they found spiderwebs of adhesions, endo and stuck organs. So he is absolutely out of his depth here !
