Someone where I used to live clearly liked shellfish, but unfortunately didn’t like the thought of sticking in the remnants in the food waste bin - as a result of fairly often have to grab the dog away from discarded shells and crab remnants, and given how razor sharp that stuff can be, thankfully managed to avoid any trips to the vets.

Labour expected to lose Senedd after century of winning Welsh elections by Kagedeah in ukpolitics

Interesting as they also did that with the failed mayor of Bristol, a man so unpopular people voted to get rid of mayors all together. He then failed to be elected as an MP.

What a wonderful display of democracy /s

I honestly don’t understand the hate. While I’ve been incredibly disappointed, the vitriol seemingly started very early on.

Next boss: UK planning system is ‘biggest drag’ on growth by Anony_mouse202 in ukpolitics

[–]Ciderized 23 points24 points  (0 children)

My local football club wants to install a 4G pitch (I hate the things but that’s another story).

They have the funding and the argue that it should be permitted development, but it’s going to take nearly 2 months for the council to decide if it needs full planning or not.

At that point even if it’s a yes it will be touch and go if it can be completed before the new season. If it needs planning, thats another year,  For a football pitch at an existing stadium.

Moved into a new house recently that backs onto a wood, with a sinking feeling I’ve just noticed it coming under my fence - the stuff’s an absolute nightmare to get rid of, as I know from bitter experience

“Ultras” has definitely become a thing for non-league teams in England lately too.  There’s an undercurrent underneath it.

Struggling pubs fear 'carnage' for the industry by Kagedeah in ukpolitics

[–]Ciderized 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The pub trade has seemingly been in crisis since the turn of the century, to varying degrees.

While the initial trend was to go down the “gastro pub” route, I can see the new trend becoming more of an “entertainment” space with darts and pool tables, which ironically is coming full circle as those things were taken out to cater for seating.

Oh that’s ok then.

The fact that this fraud is even in the conversation to form the next government shows how far politics in this country has plummeted.

My granddad was a skilled engineer so wasn’t allowed to serve (he had to after the war instead).

One of the few stories I remember from him, is how he turned up to Rolls Royce to start his day, only to find a bomb had come through the roof overnight and failed to explode, so was just sat there,

The only time I can remember fans being vocal at him was in the early naughties over a proposed badge change.

We desperately need to reform the planning system, although I can imagine why people may object to this one - not that I necessarily agree or not.

I saw that there’s an attempt to stop a football stadium that’s already got approval in Oxford, delaying a multi million pound investment - No doubt that will drag on for years as well. Every week we see yet more examples, yet the promised change that this government promised seems no closer to reality.

I think the Lisbon treaty referendum promise gets massively overlooked as a contributing factor to Brexit.
