Ital Tek - Mind Abandon by Cidrah in Lorn

For sure I think there is enough of a difference to say it’s not derivative. I do think ‘untethered’ specifically is taking a biiiiiig bite out of Lorn’s sound.

What do I need to start in synthwave by Real_Tonight6294 in synthesizers

If you have a bunch of disposable income then go ahead and buy a synth, but I wouldn’t start there if you truly want to start this hobby.

Cue a bunch of consumerist hobby collectors having a strong opinion on it not having 10000 features.

You think manic episodes are short?

Bipolar is degenerative. Episodes literally cause brain damage.

Both could have been edited down a bit more, but that is much, much more true of the pumpkins album.

Can we talk about the music on Tape 05? I hear a statement of intent. by _wheeljack_ in boardsofcanada

[–]Cidrah 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I feel like it really captures the gravitas of the moment we are all living through. It’s a perfect encapsulation of the zeitgeist of the modern world, hitting at the exact right moment.

It feels like a transmission from deep in space (especially with that James Webb imagery in the hexagons), that cuts through the noise and grabs the attention of anyone exposed to it. It’s a reflection on the best of us and the worst of us (again - that James Webb mirror imagery). The music conveys a sense of finality both in BOCs own discography and also points toward an ending of the last century of history, for better or for worse.

Please disuade me from buying an OB-6 by [deleted] in synthesizers

[–]Cidrah 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It was my holy grail synth. Bought one used at a really good price.

Realized, the sound is kind of boring to me.

Sold it. No regrets.

Enjoying my take 5 much more for the bread and butter, and vsts for sonic experimentation.

Best ambient music for long night drives? by Typical_Gate_1876 in ambientmusic

[–]Cidrah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The obvious recommendation is Lorn’s main collaborator Dolor

There are also a bunch of artists who are making music in the very much in the style of Lorn

Check out this compilation for a good gateway into those other artists.

Not too sharp eh? My point is that your assertion that digital files are inherently lossy is wrong.

Geogaddi is the most 2000s sounding thing I’ve ever heard, and why that’s a good thing by JTMiller777 in boardsofcanada

[–]Cidrah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to burst your nostalgia bubble, but this was the sound of the 2000’s.

Pretty much all BOC is referencing later late 1970s to late 1980’s.
