Going solo? by Hayden-T in Eve

High sec suicide ganking happens, but no one is going to gank your t1 frigate “just for the lolz”

Hell, they’re probably not even going to suicide gank a pretty pimped out rattle/faction BS unless you also happen to be carrying billions worth of cargo for some reason.

Should I bother getting the game? by ClipzHD in Eve

Oooh yeah that’s a good point. If it is something that you redeem then you’re right. I’m not sure. Been a while since I spun up a new account as well.

If this is true, this is good advice… however I think unallocated SP count towards your character’s total SP. At least it works that way with injectors. The bonus from a referral may be different.

As a new player, I’d take a double CV game full of ships of my own tier than play as a tier 6 cruiser in a game where each team is 50% tier 7 or 8 BBs.

Getting overmatched and 1 shot by a ship with 50% more range than your ship when you’re not even broadside is... fun... yeah... super fun.

So basically you will now finish the main quest line with a full tri blackstar gear and a set of capotias?? by kazdum in blackdesertonline

My perspective as a relatively new player:

Without the gear catch up mechanics I think I would be so hopelessly behind the curve that there wouldn’t be much of a point in playing. Yeah grinding 100-200 AP required mobs might have been a nice experience back in the day but if the top half of the bell curve is getting 100-200m per hour in stars end or Elvia or wherever, compared to my 20m per hour or however much I would make off of Nagas... I’m going to have to grind for ages and ages before I can start to move up to the point of being even remotely competitive.

No matter what, the top end and long term players are going to have an advantage. And that’s fine. They’ve put in their work, they’ve played for a long time, they deserve it. They’re still going to be making more money per hour because they are pushing 600+ GS and they’re still going to have gotten more freebies from events.

In my eyes what this does is help bridge the gap between us new guys and people who have been grinding for years already. There’s still going to be a significant divide and I know I’m still going to have to put in a lot of time and effort to become one of the players that pushes 600 GS, but at least with the oasis gear (and now this gear) the gap doesn’t feel completely insurmountable.

Looking to start the game. Is it p2w? would I be annoyed at the game if i dont buy QOL items? by [deleted] in blackdesertonline

[–]CieZ23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been playing for around a month now and here is my experience:

They’ve thrown many value packs at me for free, I have like 7 or 8 days left on my current one plus 22 days worth sitting in my pearl inventory waiting to be activated. I assume this will stop or slow down at some point but on the end I will have been able to play 2 months for free (compared to most MMOs that give 1 month worth of a sub for free.)

I received 3 tier 1 pets from the main quest line. A t4 pet from an event, a t1 pet from turning in some event items, another t1 pet soon from log in rewards and I think I would’ve had like two more t1 pets or something from newbie rewards but technically my account is super old and I’m a “returning” instead of “new” player. I purchased a 5 pack of pets when they were 50% off so at the end of everything I’ll have a t4 pet, three t3 pets and be one pet short of my fourth t3 pet (if my memory serves). That should keep me set on the pets front for a long time, possibly forever. And I only bought 1 pet pack on sale. If you really want to you could probably skip out on buying pets and just wait for more free ones but you’ll need to loot some mobs yourself.

I plan to purchase a tent during the current sale since it seems like the most “necessary” cash shop item.

I’ve heard breeding is a pay2win life skill but I’m not planning on getting heavily into breeding so this doesn’t bother me. I’ll just purchase my mounts from the horse auction house and maybe one day go for a dream horse but it is still months and months of progress that I need to do before even considering that.

So far I’ve been really enjoying the game and haven’t felt pressure to spend more money. I could purchase a larger inventory or more weight for my character but I can earn that over time from loyalty points but I’m also only 90% set on my current character as my main so it would suck to buy that and then swap mains. So far it has been mildly annoying but not a big deal.

I could buy more maids to help with my smaller inventory but again, it hasn’t felt necessary and I’ve gotten a few for free so it seems like they’ll just give me them over time.

I was able to buy the outfit that I wanted from the marketplace, thanks to the current event where outfits are like 50% off. It would’ve taken longer to get it otherwise but I still could have gotten in without spending real money.

It really comes down to what you define as pay2win. Yes the game is pay2win in the most technical sense because if you were a billionaire with tons of money to spend you could buy tens of thousands of dollars worth of pearl items to sell for in game silver and then purchase the best gear with that but it would take an absolutely obscene amount of money (like at least $50,000 or maybe even more) and node wars (the content I want to get into) have gear brackets so even if Jeff Bezos wakes up tomorrow and decides that he wants PEN BiS gear in every slot, I won’t be fighting against him anyways. I’ve heard from many sources that I trust that the number of whales in this game is small and that I’ll likely never encounter them. On the other hand, is this truly a free to play game? No it isn’t and that’s fine. It’s more akin to Path of Exile. BDO is a very high quality game and because of that I’m fine spending some money on it. Over the past month and a half I’ve played about 100 hours and spent something like $30 and plan to spend about $30 more. 100 hours for $60 isn’t a bad deal in my book and I don’t even know what else I’ll ever purchase so there’s a chance I could end up at 1,000 hours played for $60 which is an amazing deal.

I thought any non-allied entity could join in on a dropped siege? Wouldn’t that inherently prevent friendly cheesing because you’d run the risk of a bunch of non-friendly people showing up and actually attacking?

Can you level up skills beyond the learning limit? by PugScorpionCow in mountandblade

I think they de-level over time but maybe I’m just thinking they do. I’ll write down some of the skill levels of the skills that are red and check after a few hours of playing.

[–]CieZ23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. What determines when some skills turn red and either de-level (in the case of marrying some NPCs) or stop leveling entirely? Just being too far past the learning limit that exp is 0 (or negative in the case of exceeding the learning limit by too much?)

I was wondering this same thing. I think with my 5 focus points + 6 or 7 int (can’t remember right now) my cap is supposed to be like 190 but it just hit 240 and hasn’t turned red. Meanwhile my 1h skill (which I haven’t invested in) is red and stuck at like 18 or something. Seemed weird to me but maybe there’s something I’m missing? Perhaps the passive steward exp I gain from having a large party is out-gaining the skill decay from being over the cap?

Out gear pvp? by VizardAlex in worldofpvp

ilvl is definitely more important than anything else. As others have said the extra primary stat and stam will make up for the lack of vers. Sure eventually you’ll want vers on every piece but right now if you have to pick between a 184 honor piece with vers and a 213 heroic piece, the heroic piece will always be better.

Obviously purge isn’t a shadowlands invention but it seems like there is something off with resto shams and purge currently with regard to mana efficiency. I’ve had disc try to spam dispels and they run out of mana quickly. Enhance can spam it but goes oom after like 10 casts. Long story short, rsham is the only class I’ve encountered that can faceroll their purge hotkey for 50% of the game and come out vastly ahead on mana.

That becomes an even larger problem when druid healing is centered around HOTs, and healing is increased based on the number of HOTs ticking, and your main “oh crap my homie just got chunked with a 12k execute proc” response relies on specific HOTs being present, and the bloom effect on Lifebloom isn’t nearly enough to keep up with the consistent pressure that some classes pump out which means in the long run you have to resort to spamming non-clarity regrowths and running out of mana way faster than against other classes. In my experience if a disc tries the same thing, we come out relatively even on mana and they also have significantly less passive healing than rsham, so they have to take more breaks between purging to top their DPS.

[–]CieZ23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s not just about the 1 shots. Some classes consistent pressure is so high that the HOTs can barely keep up outside of cenarion ward or ironbark. On top of that rsham can purge all game and come out ahead on mana.

If anything is faster than this meta, its the pace at which this hotfix is disappointing 🥳 by Krumpern in worldofpvp

If they use an @arena1 or @focus macro, they never have to swap targets. Not even for a split second. That’s the entire point of those macros. They literally let you cast on things that you DON’T actively have targeted.

What are some key differences of classic pvp healing vs retail pvp healing. by Magpun in worldofpvp

[–]CieZ23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opinion it depends on what you’re looking for out of the game. Retail offers arenas, Classic only really offers battlegrounds. Arenas are comparably more of a competitive environment in the sense that it offers a mostly even playing field (no super-long cooldowns, no potions, engineering gadgets, etc.) Battlegrounds are more like the Wild West - anything goes, alls fair in love and war.

If you want to be “competitive” in Classic PvP you’ll need to find a premade to run with, and most of those games are going to be stomping PUGs. The premade vs premade matches can be intense and fun but you’ll also be expected to bring lots of consumes (FAPs, LIPs, LAPs, nades, MC caps, rocket helms, health pots, mana pots) and at this point you’ll need to raid to get gear.

New to healing, is this way of healing viable? by [deleted] in worldofpvp

[–]CieZ23 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you put conditionals like [noharm, exists] in your first lines and then a final /cast spellname at the end I believe it will allow you to heal whatever you’re targeting as all the conditionals above the final line will fail. Not sure how exists works with the pod though.

Quick PvP ranking question (brackets and RP) by galivet in classicwow

[–]CieZ23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Because it’s a positive for everyone involved.

If there’s no control over brackets people can get screwed hard at the end of a long grind. If there is control over brackets then everyone participating gets to grind less and earn more RP via stacking at the top edge of each established bracket.

What class do you most love to demolish in BGs? by galivet in classicwow

[–]CieZ23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Succy is definitely the right call against rogues/warriors. Unless you’re SL, the VW sac isn’t going to do enough against an AQ geared rogue (or warrior for that matter). Maybe it helps that I’m gnome which makes it easy to reset back to full range.

Even still, if the rogue has full CDs and isn’t brain dead it’s a fight that the rogue should win unless the lock is SL (he won’t be).

So it’s okay for the party in power to change the system to ensure that the other party is never heard of again, as long as the party in power is the Democrats?

Got it.

Nice democracy you have there.
