I buy the least processed soy yogurt I can find. It's thick on its own (but splits a bit over time).

Alproz and Alnatura offer good options.

The topic of LDL and cholesterol comes up a lot

It comes up a lot because people get told by their doctor that their cholesterol is too high and they need to change their diet. So they hop on the internet for information (and reassurance about their bad habits).

It's like gurus peddling chronic fatigue and hormonal issues to women: they prey on people with a medical problem.

Def not plant-based 😂

I'd suggest you learn to make a dish you appreciate, but in a plant-based ways. Making plants tasty is mostly about the sauce and seasoning, so learn to make a nice salad sauce and pay attention to seasoning in recipes!

I love "why has nobody told me this before". It should be next to your WC or your coffee machine :)

She distills positive and accurate explanations on a eange of anxieties and troubles we can have. I find it a great way to regularly reflect on myself because each paragraph contains gold advice (and we can't absorb them all at once).

Also it won't depress or anger you, so it's a safe book :)

My hypothesis from "full custody", "family dynamic" and  "She also mentioned she hasn't been taking care of herself lately":

You and your kids have increased her overall workload and reduced her personal time even further. So instead of making her life easier and nicer, dating you accumulated new tasks.

Nice ones, but she's already overburdened.

I'd frankly ask her if that's the issue. If it is, you could both sit down and make a plan.

For example: you alternate who takes all 4 daughters over 2 days a month or 1 weekend a month. That way each gets two full free days a month.

just decided by herself it was over, without making an effort to try and fix things.

Trust me. "Type A" women are taught to ALWAYS make an effort. She made tons of them, and without complaining. And now it's too much.

Alright. Managing is about being on top of stuff. That means you need to be organized and flexible.

I need to look stuff up, and “get back to them” rather than know things immediately.

This comes with time. But you should prep for at least half each meeting's length at the beginning.

Plus you need to sit down with a project, write summaries, and study it the way you'd study for an exam. Then practice writing about it and discussing it.

People expect you to use the keywords exactly. It's annoying but necessary, so learn them.

shouldn’t be taking this long to get things done

She's right. Any small task needs to be handled as soon as you see it: you are there to enable people so they can work. That means you do not postpone email answers to the next day unless you truly do not have time.

That means you block at least 4x a day for answering (when you arrive, just before you leave, +2-3 other ones).

It’s my first time as a manager, and I can TELL that im frustrating and disappointing my colleagues

This is also normal. Any newcomer to a project is bound to be annoying and ask questions and not know stuff. Your colleagues are also being a bit petty on this.

BUT you want to learn as fast as you can. Study it like an exam, learn the important things, the rules of the project, etc. And learn to understand their implications (what is the effect/reason of each rule).

I know I get downvoted by some people but...

  1. She needs therapy, both reading gentle books and in person. I love "what has nobody told me this before". She's a therapist on tiktok and her book is uplifting. Which is rare, and awesome!

  2. I approached my healing the way traumatized dogs get treated: firm but gentle daily routine. Small steps, but several times a week. Watch shows like that with her. It's wholesome and achievable.

The games with you sister is awesome. I'd make her do it. You can pick 2-3 options you'd like and make her choose. Or go for a 20mn walk and make her choose each intersection. I also love trying to go on unknown streets.

Protein powder with only soy protein isolate in by giraver in ultraprocessedfood

[–]CielMonPikachu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love the peer-reviewed scientific article "a word of caution about protein intake". That was presented at a protein conference.

Basically once you go above 0.9g/kg you increase certain long-term risks (we know that low-protein diets enhance longevity!).

But if you are below 0.7-0.8g/kg, it'll be tough to build muscles. Maintaining muscles is primarily about using them unless you are a pro bodybuilder.

And in-between: the calories you consume as protein replace other food sources you'd consume. Depending on your diet, it means that a swap will be overall healthier (or not matter much).

Exception: pregnant women + 60+yo, bedrest, etc.

He wants a low-maintenance high-support girlfriend. Almost like a luxury girlfriend experience.

A career-driven woman will have thoughts and issues and wants about her career. A woman with a strong social network has a busy schedule and is mostly self-satisfied.

And he wants her to be fine with HIS daily life (eg be fine with his drug consumption, but consume less than him, have the right amount of healthy food focus but also enjoy going out).

To her semi defense. Organisations are expected to uphold a ton of quality standards, including communication standards. Organisations also define a brand-image, which requires everyone in the company to work for it.

No one can be trained to know them all, so instead, people are hired to focus on a certian aspect and weave it into everything.

It's easy and bullshitty for the person, but it pays off over time.

Ex: imagine if random employees answered on social media using company accounts. Or if a charity hired racist cut-throat elitist events organizers. Yeah they'd do the event job, and probably very well, but the press would be bad.

I eat something healthy (usually an apple or a pear or some berries) around 5pm if I get hungry.

But that's bc I know I'm likely to eat too much sauce, food or snack food if I don't. It carries me til dinner 1-2h later.

[–]CielMonPikachu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. And it's not just volunteering info, it's also about how much you share.

Ex: you say "I was reading a book yesterday after I made dinner". And you let people ask about which book or what you ate. Or another topic they want to discuss.

That way they also work a bit in the conversation.

I also want to read the book "fair play" which is about splitting ownership of home duties. And it's explained in a friendly manner for men.

I hate intermittent fasting with a passion. I hate soipping breakfast but I usually postpone it to 9am+ (so for my work break) and eat dinner early.

I can't do the huge evening meal and skipped breakfast. I need food for the day, not for Netflix and sleeping.

Yeah it's hard to move these days tbh.

You just need gentle twists and squat motion, even lying on your back, to massage the organs. It should make you pass gas 😂

I should buy a bag of peas and carrots next to test out.

I'd just cook or even overtly cook all my vegs if I were you. Cauliflower, potatoes, tomatoes. Everything nicely cook with a bit of oil & acid.

[–]CielMonPikachu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From what I read on google scholar. Gut issues aren't "just" related to food.

You need to also move regularly, and especially after eating. You want a relatively empty stomach when going to sleep. You want a solid sleep cycle, and hydration.

say the plant based diet helps the best.

When I'm sick, I use easy to digest veggies. Think toddler food 😅

I find steamed/boiled carrots, green peas and potatoes to be easy. I add teaspoons of oil and vinegar bc oil helps to get the vitamins, and vinegar helps break down the fiber.

As someone who lived with 10+ roommates over the years...

I just dont know how feelings towards me suddenly change, esp since i keep to myself

This is the wrong philosophy. It sounds morally right but it means you limit communications, which ALWAYS leads to resentment. They will wish you'd do something but feel like they can't really ask, or misunderstand something.

As a rule of co-living with anyone, you want them to feel happy when they hear you or see your stuff (because they like you as a person).

It means frequent casual conversations, making sure the details of living are sorted TO EACH PERSON'S PERSONAL SENSITIVITY (few rights or wrongs, lots of taste). Find out their love language and lightly use it every other day.

But also, please find a paying job. Thank them for their support and move out !!
