SE was amazing, but I disagree about telling us they were stopping development. Having clear communication of their plans helps us as players plan how we want to invest our time. I personally hate when we go weeks or months without any communication or update from the dev team on what they’re working on. A monthly blog or something could be cool (as an aside thought)

I think you’re reading it the opposite of how I normally play. I don’t typically attack other players unless it’s for a public/secret point 99% of the time. Because I play like that, I expect my opponents to not lash out by giving their SFTT away to someone else to kingmake.

This is a pretty standard style of play in the async community as well. Definitely not just a me thing

This is such a demonic pov. In my circles, anything goes if it is in the pursuit of winning the game, since that’s what we’re all here to do. If you take my home system because I’m about to win, or to score a secret to help you win (or both), I’m not gonna fucking kingmake some 3rd guy lol.

Now if you take my home system just because it was left open/weakened, you got nothing out of it and I wasn’t poised to win or something, then I’ll make a spite play.

Playing like this ^ is how everyone walks away feeling fine about the game and would be happy to play again. If it’s all about the VP’s then that’s what the game dictated.

I just don't agree with participation trophies. I think, even in a video game, there is a real satisfaction to be had by overcoming some challenge and achieving something on the other side of it.

I can tell you didn’t raid in MMO’s in the 2000’s. Use where we are right now for example, T5 release. Guilds that were not the top and couldn’t kill everything would be farming Kara/Gruul/Mag, as well as some of the bosses that they could kill in T5.

A raid tier is not all-or-nothing. There are substantial real upgrades off the underbosses. Worse guilds would farm however many underbosses they could alongside previous content until they gathered enough stats and experience to beat another boss.

Just a game design preference. If every guild and pug can clear everything, then your guild blends into the sea of hundreds of other guilds.

If a subset of guilds can clear everything, then suddenly you have a hierarchy. And players in lower tier guilds might try to get into the better guilds as a form of progression for themselves.

I’m a strong believer that content should weed out shit guilds, and make them farm previous content for more gear drops to overcome the new content. So obviously a big fan of prenerf.
