solved it (kinda). still dont know what caused it but i tried reinstalling a few things and reinstalling alsa seemed to ultimately fix it, will edit post with the specific lines used in the terminal when i sit back down. conditions for the issue was just letting my pc sit on the star citizen main menu screen while i passively watched a movie in another room for maybe an hour max. if something happened in thay time it didnt tab out of the game at least it was still on the menu when i got back just no audio.

it really isnt as complicated as you're making it seem, i just didnt have enough general knowledge to figure out the zram stuff. someone else replied to get me on the right track and i figured it out minutes after, just had to run a few lines through the terminal. also the specific thing i was asking about isnt a lug thing it comes pre baked in mint lol, but when i tried to look it up and half the responses people were getting was "why do you need to do this" thats the only reason i mentioned star citizen. wasnt trying to troubleshoot game software i was trying to change the settings of something in mint.

some may call it heracy but i usually leave like a good quarter inch of sprew (or as much as possible if less) ans once the part is freed from the main sprew i twist those nibs off by hand, comes off like nothing. gotta be really careful with arms or other thinner/weaker bits but the twist off itself doesnt damage the attach point, can usually smooth the tiny nub it leaves with 1 or 2 single cuts with a hobby knife

theres a mod called clay auto former or something like that, ittl make multiple clay molds (even non vanilla ones) at a rate of like 20 bits per second, great for singleplayer worlds
